Beautiful anemone hepatica seen in the forest :)
Anemone hepatica or common hepatica (Hepatica nobilis) is a herbaceous perennial growing from a rhizome in the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae), native to woodland in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It is found in the woods, thickets and meadows, especially in the mountains of continental Europe. In many countries Anemone hepatica is grown as an ornamental plant, where it is appreciated because of effective flowers and early blooming. It is used in rock gardens or in forest-based parks. Medieval herbalists believed it could be used to treat liver diseases, and is still used in alternative medicine today. Other modern applications by herbalists include treatments for pimples, bronchitis and gout.

Urocza kępka przylaszczek pstryknięta w lesie :)
Przylaszczka pospolita (Hepatica nobilis) – gatunek rośliny wieloletniej z rodziny jaskrowatych.

Captured from a unique vantage point, this image showcases a female kestrel, standing against the backdrop of the vast steppe of the Monegros in Spain. The low angle shot, taken from a burrow in the ground, accentuates her towering presence.
Much of the snow has melted, but the sparkling, frosty mornings still remain.

("Bread and butter" is a superstitious blessing or charm, typically said by young couples or friends walking together when they are forced to separate by an obstacle, such as a pole or another person. By saying the phrase, the bad luck of letting something come between them is thought to be averted.)
Looking back on Manhattan from the Brooklyn side of the iconic bridge makes you feel sentimental, especially when you're back home again and another visit is far away...
Another photo from Praia da Oura - pretty much the same viewpoint as yesterday's upload but the camera almost touching the water. Unfortunately the tide was too high to explore the countless little boulders and sea stacks lining that end of the beach but who can complain when the weather is nice and warm!

A few weeks ago my father almost died due to a sudden illness and he was being treated in a hospital for several days. We were beside him all that time, and hoped for the best. Gladly he survived.
I took this photo on my way home.
A juvenile Green Heron displays its characteristic patience, perched elegantly on a single leg. Captured with a shallow depth of field, the bird stands in sharp relief against a soft, lush background of blurred green foliage, creating a beautiful bokeh effect that emphasizes its velvet-green back and rich chestnut neck as well as its developing crown feathers.
I am grateful for your continued support and appreciate every view, fave, and comment!
A vibrant, wide-angle bottom-up shot of an almond tree (Prunus dulcis) heavily laden with young, unripe green fruits and fuzzy hulls enclosing developing almonds.
The low-angle perspective looking up into the canopy creates a dynamic, immersive feel. The main branches act as natural leading lines that guide the eye upward.
The branches are heavily clustered with immature green almonds, often classified botanically as drupes. They display their characteristic fuzzy, leathery outer hulls.
A bright, direct sunlight streams from the upper left, creating a natural backlighting effect that makes the green foliage translucent. Soft, velvety green hulls that split open as they mature. Leaves are long, narrow, finely serrated, and bright green. Cluster-heavy branches reaching toward the sun.
This photograph features strong compositional energy and color contrast.
The vibrant contrast between the bright green leaves, the pale hulls, and the vivid blue sky gives the image a fresh, lively atmosphere. The warm tones of the brick wall in the background complement the cool sky well.
The deep depth of field keeps almost the entire tree in focus showcasing the abundance of the harvest. A deep focus ensures both the immediate foreground clusters and higher branches remain crisp and sharp.
During this spring phase, the entire pod is soft, and the interior contains a gelatinous, translucent kernel. In many Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cultures, these young fruits are harvested early and eaten whole, fuzzy outer hull and all, often dipped in a bit of salt for a crisp, tart, and grassy snack.
If left on the tree until late summer, the soft green outer hull will dry out, turn brown, and split open. This reveals the hard woody shell inside that protects the crunchy almond nut we typically eat.

Close-up or an adult Black Skimmer skimming - Nickerson Beach, New York
Fascinated by their look and behavior, I kept searching for a perfect spot to photograph Black Skimmers. This is what originally brought me to Nickerson Beach some time ago. (Actually, I need to check when exactly was my very first visit there 🤔. One thing for sure, there was barely any information online on that spot back then and Twitter was at its infancy🙈).
Despite large colonies of breeding skimmers there, skimming shots aren’t that easy to come by. In my Location Updates, I will be sharing tips on how I get shots like this, what to look for, how to plan your visit with these shots in mind etc. For a limited time, I’m offering these updates at the discounted price: www.greggard.com/location-updates/nickerson-beach-ny-updates

The first shot with my newly acquired vintage manual lens. My poor eyes had more trouble with the manual focus than they did when I first borrowed an analogue slr nearly thirty years ago but that background blur is very satisfying.
This image is Generated using Midjourney V8 alpha software then i process in photoshop.
Thank you for your visit and faves and comment.
