looking up, market street, tuesday night

the view as i climb our fallen mango tree.

The facade of the original building remains - it is now the city library.

Looking up - Statue on a wall at Concarneau, Brittany, France

With the shiny pot lid of no proper home.

I spent a weekend at Evan's place with mostly Evan not there, while he did a design event thing. Also he's let me borrow his camera. He's pretty good.

It was a warm afternoon, the smell of jasmine was pleasantly strong here. There was a trellis nearby with gobs of jasmine blossoms.

Kids can just melt your heart when they are looking up at you...

The NCMA bought the land next to the museum so they could extend the park around the grounds. All that is left of the former prison is the chimney. I got some looking up shots. Two pigeons scared me when they flew out of one of those holes in the side!

A wide angle effect. For a deeper faith...

this is the same tree where 'new from old' was photographed.

For Sensational Snap Society, week 1

Week 1 assignment: Document your day. I decided to do a Saturday rather than a work day though my morning always starts with a cuppa and the computer, either at home or at work or both! Saturday was no different.

The Legend of the Dogwood

In Jesus time, the dogwood grew

To a stately size and a lovely hue.

'Twas strong & firm it's branches interwoven

For the cross of Christ its timbers were chosen.

Seeing the distress at this use of their wood

Christ made a promise which still holds good:

"Never again shall the dogwood grow

Large enough to be used so

Slender & twisted, it shall be

With blossoms like the cross for all to see.

As blood stains the petals marked in brown

The blossom's center wears a throny crown.

All who see it will remember me

Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree.

Cherished and protected this tree shall be

A reminder to all of my agony."
