One more on the ground. Birch leaf on ice. Pretty much as shot, trying not to blow out the ice crystals, yet retain the light through the frozen leaf. Should I try to lighten?

“The restlessness and the longing, like the longing that is in the whistle of a faraway train. Except that the longing isn't really in the whistle—it is in you.”

Trying out my Big Lee Stopper I got for Christmas, should have waited until the correct light to get a decent effect. I got too excited.

In the hush of night, when stars take flight,

A moon child dances in silver light,

Her laughter echoes through the shadowed trees,

A melody woven with whispers of breeze.

With eyes like galaxies, deep and wide,

She wanders the dreams where wishes reside,

In fields of stardust, where time softly bends,

She chases the shadows of what could have been friends.

Each silver beam cradles a secret untold,

A tapestry woven of hopes bright and bold,

With every step, the cosmos sighs,

For the moon child knows where the longing lies.

She twirls in the twilight, a whimsical grace,

A wistful glance at an empty space,

Where futures once sparkled, like dew on the grass,

Now echoes of laughter in the moments that pass.

“What if,” she muses, “the stars had aligned?

What dreams might have blossomed, what fate might we find?”

Yet in her heart, there’s a glimmer of light,

For even in absence, love lingers in night.

The moon child weaves tales of joy and of pain,

In the softest of sighs, in the sweetest refrain,

She carries the dreams that were never unfurled,

A radiant beacon in a slumbering world.

So dance, little moon child, beneath the vast skies,

In the realm of the dreamers, where possibility lies,

For what could have been is a whisper, a song,

In the heart of the night, where you’ve always belonged.

It has been a long, baking hot summer in the south this year. Atlanta’s average temp has been 90 F to 96 F, not including the heat index from the unbelievable humidity. So many days feeling like over 100 F. I am so ready and longing for the cool temps of Fall and the beautiful colors. Here the setting sun shines brightly across Lake Winnipesaukee as a rainbow of color reflects along the shoreline on a beautiful Fall day in New Hampshire.
