Continuing the all over the place theme of this week, here is another shot from our trip to Texas, an HDR of one of the cabins in the Log Cabin Village in Ft. Worth. With a sunflare and reflection in the same scene, I couldn't resist the shot!
As always, you can read about the processing I've done on this shot and all my images on on my website.

Basic log cabin, with 2" logs and 3.5" fussy-cut squares from novelty prints for the center blocks. Blocks finished at 12". Reds, oranges, yellows, and just a smidge of pink for a very gray time of the year.
This is a painting I did in 2000, I gave it to my mother-in-law. Hope you like it !!!
Large is the best viewed...
I quilted the log cabin blocks, and then around the outside of the quilt, which is a big log cabin rectangle.
Stonewall Jackson - one of the more famous generals from the US civil war - was from Virginia, by the end of the war West Virginia had split off and become a separate state, on the side of the USA. Jackson's family donated a sizeable chunk of land to make amends. My wife spent many summers here at 4H camp. .
This is my second top made from non pre washed fabrics. It shrank considerably. I love how it turned out but I think I'm going to stick with pre washing.

Don't dis' it.
It's paid for
Not much to clean

No windows to wash
I have to live alone
And in a bit I'm going out cruising in the jeep!
Never mind the fact that my butt doesn't really fit in either one. Gotta take the bad with the good I suppose.
This nice neighbor of my mom and dad, likes to make birdhouses in the winter. He is retired and likes to create birdhouses, them come spring, he gives them all away. He gave me two today, but this log cabin one is my fave! In a couple of weeks the wrens will be here. They have the prettiest song of all the birds!
The quilt includes two of my favourite elements - log cabin hearts and little squares of colour around the edge. The quilt is my own design.
"Pretty Me" is the fabric by Sis Boom.
Jennifer Paganelli is still my favourite fabric designer - read Jennifer's blog here:- www.sisboom.com/blog/
The bottom of the heart is a basic log cabin, and the top is a variation of a "courthouse steps" block made with jellyroll strips of 'Pretty Me' and strips of Kona cotton in white.
For retiring co-worker Jean B., a paralegal. Courthouse Steps block, original quilt design. Jean uses a little ruler when she writes, so the bottoms of her letters are straight. Horizontal layout imitates that straightness. Contrasting centers add interest and contribute to the horizontal movement.
