I'm really enjoying making these - I hope i'll be able to keep going and make a double quilt (maybe a bit ambtious!)
The log cabins, stores and out buildings at Spring Mill in south west Indiana are in excellent condition. The next time I'll photograph the markers at the buildings for easy identification. Suggested by the boss.

bring (a fact, event, or situation) back into one's mind; remember
I'm not old enough to recall living in a log cabin. I doubt that our generation could cope without all of today's conveniences.
Posted especially for my friend Geir Drabløs in Norway who just had a girl and is weathering a nasty storm today..hope this helps the 'cabin fever'! IF you get a chance look up his amazing photostream!
Unfortunately this little cabin was defaced as you can see below.. as my PhotoShop abilities improve..or the defacing is removed.. I will do more of this cabin when I return for another visit..just a hundred feet or so behind the house my boys grew up in this cabin is amazing in the snow..
Norwegians that immigrated to the Fox River Valley in the late 1800's built this sort of cabin when they first moved to the area. None remain that I know of except this replica that sits next to the Norway Community Building and was placed there by the 'Sons Of Norway' club some time ago.
As I look around Flickr I see a fair number of Norwegian and other Nordic photos and 'feel' my roots..interesting that a place I have never been looks so much like so many of the scenes I so love from my home area of Illinois.
The whole cabin ...

i've been working on this pillow for a while. due to sewing machine problems and a lack of free time, it didn't get finished until now. i'm somewhat happy with it. i tried out a variegated machine quilting thread for the first time and i'm not totally happy with it. i liked how the quilting on the other pillows was a bit more subtle. but i still like this one - i mean, it has heather ross, amy butler and denyse schmidt fabrics so it's virtually impossible not to like! (at least in my opinion...)
loved this quilt so much i made a second one. always regretted selling the first one. made it bigger this time too! blogged at www.tallgrassprairiestudio.blogspot.com
