This quilt was so fun to make. Just randomly pulling strips and not worrying at all about how it was going to all fit together. There is a great tutorial series on how to do one of these at quiltdad.com.

Wall quilt made with log cabin quilt blocks, turned on point. Graduating the colour in the strips created a cool 3D effect.

So .... you could say I'm loving log cabins right now. That's not to say that my partner could make me a different type of pillow and I wouldn't love it as well. :) I have other pillows in my favorites if my partner isn't feeling the log-cabin love.
The 4 pictures in each of the corners are my absolute favs ... and the other 5 I love for thier color scheme, quilting, or design.

More of my leftover 1 1/2" strips. I had to cut more light strips from scraps. The orange is home dyed satin.

About 7 houses away from us is a wonderful house that started out as a log cabin. I walk the dogs by there almost every day. It is just a wonderful bit of discreet history tucked into this little valley and cove of the Elk River where we live. :)
Today is Log Cabin day!
As you can see, I love to make quilts from denim and different scraps. I cut the denim 6 cm, and the other fabric 3,5 cm. For every denim stripe, I take 2 others. Also look at the yellow denim quilt, it is made the same way.
Stonewall Jackson - one of the more famous generals from the US civil war - was from Virginia, by the end of the war West Virginia had split off and become a separate state, on the side of the USA. Jackson's family donated a sizeable chunk of land to make amends. My wife spent many summers here at 4H camp. .
