Detail of the joint between two pieces of the iron corrugated sea wall surrounding St. Joseph's North Pier.

Some of the boats on the Fossdyke Canal at Torksey Lock in Lincolnshire just half an hour or so before sunset one November evening in 2019.

This combi bike lock was left on the park railings back in 2017. It looks a lot worse for wear now.

Here's what it looked like in early 2018 bike lock 2018. The ravages of time and the weather have taken their toll since then.

Editing lots of old photos today, using X3 over LR. Much nicer workflow, just easier and quicker to use.

3"x3" section of the column lock for tripod.

Image taken with Nikon D5500 and Tamron 16-300mm @ 86mm and 20mm extension tube.

It's not easy for me to take a macro of a tripod without a tripod!... so I needed to bump up ISO to 25600 in order to take hand held @ 1/160th.

The historic lock in Maassluis

2020 reality check!... and I guess what a lot of us will be living with for quite a while yet.

Happy Sliders Sunday! ;o)

I've just acquired my first Canon camera ;o)

I want to explore the world of in-camera multiple-image making ... and my Sony cameras fall woefully short in this function. So, as Mike is the Canon man in our house, he decided to find a Canon that has the ability I'm looking for (without breaking the bank!) He found an EOS 70D and I've just begun to experiment. The 3 shots I used here were about the first I took ... playing with Manual setting, and manual focus. I wanted to use them rather than throw them away! Lots of learning and playing to come ... Canon onboard computer is so different to Sony, and I want to use a Russian Helios lens, and maybe a Lensbaby on it too. So many plans ;o)

Work boat moored up at Stone Lock on the Chesterfield Canal

Many thanks to all for your faves and comments today, much appreciated.

A locked portal is one of the oldest ways of keeping an area safe and secure. This lock has been guarding the north-east entrance to a silk factory long after it has been abandoned and forgotten.

One of several restored locks on the historic Hennepin canal that connects the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers across Northern Illinois. Lock 16.

This was made in a rush as the light was fading. Like many of my images, it was a snatch on the way home from work. The colour in the sky was stunning and I tried to act fast to get something. In fact, if I had set up my tripod I would have been too late, so I rested my camera on the ground, beside a puddle from a recent shower. It's far from perfect, but I hope it captures the mood of a shower having passed and the sky breaking to reveal a more favourable light.

We seem to find a lot of locked things in our travels out and about. This particular lock was on a utility type building at a community center where we ate our lunch. It was Sunday and all the buildings were locked but there were a couple of nice pavilions where the breeze cooled us a bit as we ate. Today we are headed out once more to see what we can see and hopefully some locks will be missing so we can peek inside! LOL

Captured in: Smoky Mountain National Park.

Cherokee, NC.

Pictured here is the third in a set of images featuring an up-close and personal view of Elk bulls roaming the fields of Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

This shot was captured just as two young bulls began sparing (commonly seen during the rutting season), trying to prepare themselves to one day challenge the head bull for the lead role in their gang.
