I locked the keys in the car!! Dang. Not a fun end to the day. At least it was raining and cold. A kind man helped me out to get a hold of ADAC. The whole ordeal took about 3.5 hours.
I was looking of some images from a visit I made to a Railway collector who lives near me. This man has rescued moved to his property and restored a train station, a general store, several sections of rail track and a railway maintenance shed. This is the lock on the door of that shed, he told me the shed was one of many that once stood alone the rail line for mantenance crews to store parts and tools for repairing sections of track.
I did this as a 5 shot HDR processed in NIK HDR pro and PS CS6
This is in a beautifully restored series of old houses. The use of the lock -- neither traditional nor offering much security -- struck me as incongruous. Qian Kou Village, Anhui Province, China. October 2011

Barely half a step ahead of no lock at all. It's not tied to anything. It's long enough to slip over the seat, so is only connected to the rack. And yes, the blue part is 100% plastic. The bike is probably less than US$50 new, so is cheaper than a quality lock I guess.

The mill is on the site of Osney Abbey and was built in 1845. It was worked by a water turbine.
Ruined by fire in 1945, it has now been made into flats.
My first eagle trip this season. It was a really overcast and gray day so quite a bit of post processing was necessary. I went to Lock and Dam 18 this morning, near Gladstone, Illinois and across from Burlington, Iowa. The eagle count there a week ago was over 200 - and I must say I have never seen so many eagles in one place - it was so awesome to watch. Unfortunately, there was no way to get close enough to the area where they were fishing - so no decent fishing shots. But they did fly overhead and perch in the trees close in. The afternoon was Lock 14 on the Iowa side of the river near Davenport. Last year for my first trip to photograph the eagles there were many eagles there, too, and they were fishing close to the viewing area - but today only 6 or 7 and they weren't very active - so I resorted to shooting gulls, geese, etc. Fun day, even though not ideal shooting conditions. Going back with my sister and brother sometime in January.
