Spent the night trying to do a star trail of an abandoned house but passing cars just kept ruining the photo with their headlights. I looked over my left shoulder only to see this very tall healthy green tree. It made for a nice photo in the end.
I do love the Livecomposite setting on the Olympus camera.
I had no idea I was seeing this many fireflies as the camera recorded 4 seconds of light at a time for 4 minutes.
My eyes would have missed have of these.
There was a nearly full moon so I headed back below the hill and where the moon had not showed up.
I sure have fun watching these bugs!
Taking advantage of the Live Composite feature on my Olympus camera for some interesting spins on local carnival rides. Image made with my @getolympus OM-D e-M1 mk2 with the m.Zuiko 8mm Fisheye Pro lens. I used the NiSi CirPl and Natural Night filters and the whole kit was mounted on my meFoto Globetrotter tripod. [ISO200 | 1.3s (base exposure) | f5.6] Image processed in On1 Photo RAW 19.6 with a roundtrip to Nik Analog Efex blended back in through On1 Layers.

It was windy last night, so I was pleased that my long exposure shots turned out fine. This is a Live Composite shot to get the light trail across the bridge. The bright lights are from a field on Wards Island.

We arrived in Weymouth yesterday evening after a nightmare of a journey where the train we were on was stuck in the middle of nowhere with no power for three hours. No aircon or air circulation means it was a bit of a covid risk too! Oh well we're double jabbed and masked and I've already had delta so how much worse can it get? Anyway once we got settled in we went out for a nice curry and then watched the firework show on the beach now it's starting to feel like a holiday. Now if only work would stop messaging me.... Taken using Olympus Live Composite feature

Another go with Olympus's fun "live composite" mode. It's distressing how much visual pollution there is in this very well-known location -- it took quite a bit of my (limited) Photoshop skills to remove the ugly.
Long exposure made with my Olympus OM-D e-M1 mk2, m.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 Pro lens, NiSi CirPl & Natural Night filters and meFoto Globetrotter tripod. Base exposure info: ISO100, 1s, 13mm, f18. Processed in On1 Photo RAW 19.6 with a roundtrip to Nik Silver Efex Pro.

12/2/2016 Chinese New Year day 4 (初四), Chinatown, Singapore.
Met an elderly hobbyist photographer at the same location, he took out a simple Nikon compact camera from his plastic bag, shot the roughly same view as where I shot, no tripod, no frills, simple. Turns out he is Mr Quek Tiong Swee, ok, I confess that I don't know who he was then, but after a chat turns out he has been documenting Singapore changes for the past 30 yrs of hobby. And he had donated his works (8000) to National Heritage Board. There I was, ironically, with my tripod, nodal rail, my filter, digital mirrorless cam with widest lens trying to capture a history of what I deem as my photography life.
You can find some of his donated works here. www.nas.gov.sg/archivesonl…/photographs/search-result
It does brings back memories and even helped me learn a thing or two about our past, and perhaps rethink how my photography life should be. The short chat, the photos, resonates well with me, and will be for a long time to come.
