The Rialto Beach hike is a 3 mile out and back along the sand and rocks that make up the coast just north of La Push, WA. What a lot of the trip reports don't tell you is that during high tide, the hike becomes more akin to an obstacle course. Here, my wife sits on one of the many mountains of driftwood as we wait for an opportune moment in the surf to pass to the next part of the trail. While we were waiting here, a family of river otters swam up the creek behind us and fed on some fish not 100 feet from where we were sitting.

With 2015 coming to a close, I've been looking back through my archives from this year, reliving memories and editing new finds. I loved this shot from my April visit to Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona. Sure, the place may be over photographed, but it doesn't make it any less magic in person.

Icy Multnomah Falls from above with my Rokinon 14mm. This lens is unbelievably wide. I managed to capture the bottom tier of Multnomah all the way to the Washington side of the Gorge in a single frame. The benefit of coming when it's so icy is that there was hardly anyone there. Only one other car in the parking lot, other than my own. A far cry from the hordes you find during the summer.

I just love hiking in mountains, and once I had this incredible view. This shot was taken from a small platform between the rives of a river in french Alps. It was a little bit risky because with people around me. I didn't want to fall.

I just love the contrast on this image with the green of the forest against the brown of the rock !

I hope you enjoy this shot !

Sunset over Pigeon Point Lighthouse

ā€œI went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary.

I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms.ā€

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

ā€œA concise poem about our work as stated elow

A place without being

a thought without thinking

creatively, two dimensions

suspended animation

possibly a perfect imitation

of what was then to see.

A frozen memory in synthetic colour

or black and white instead,

fantasy dreams in magazines

become imbedded inside my head.

Artistic views

surrealistic hues,

a photographer’s instinctive eye:

for he does as he pleases

up to that point he releases,

then develops a visual high.
