Cape Flattery - the most Northwestern point of the lower 48 contiguous United States. It's complete with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and coast, as well as Canada's Vancouver Island. Cape Flattery boasts some of the most dramatic coast line I've ever seen.
We hiked it a couple hours before sunset, the weekend before Thanksgiving. There were storms hovering just off the coast, moving inland. Most of the day was overcast and cold. We were lucky enough to find ourselves at the furthest viewpoint during a 10 minute break in the clouds. The surf was heavy, and throwing tons of spray into the air, whichc just so hapened to catch the few fleeting sun rays. Right place, right time. A moment I'll never forget.

I woke up at 4am yesterday morning and drove to Mount Rainier for the hell of it. It was my first time visiting! I never got to see the mountain itself and most of the park was inaccessible due to snow, but I had a blast anyway. I had to turn around at Paradise because that's as far as they plowed, but it was white out conditions up there anyway. Still managed to see a couple waterfalls, did some donuts in the snow, fell off a nurse log, and almost hit an elk that ran out in front of my car. Gotta go back ASAP!

Portland was hit with a little ice storm on Sunday afternoon - crushing roads and sending the city to an almost standstill for a day or so. I knew I had to get myself to the Gorge to shoot the icy waterfalls while I had the chance. I made the return to my favorite falls in the Gorge, Wahclella Falls, to recreate a winterized version of a shot I took back in October. Last week I tackled Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, Utah. It's a 5 mile hike through the heart of the park, climbing 1500' feet. The last half mile of the hike, which picture here, involves scaling that ridge, climbing 500'. The ridge can be as narrow as 5-6' in some spots. And there are sections of chains, anchored into the rock to keep you on it. It's exhilirating. I had the time of my life climbing it, met a ton of people from all over the world and felt really free during my time scaling it. I fell in love with Zion last week. It's definitely on my list of places to return to.
