Time Keeps on Slipping

A bridge railing giving way to harsh weather loses its paint to the elements. Brilliant sun casts a diagonal shadow to give more drama to the strong colors. An hourglass of sorts - at least to my eye. I love finding little treasures in unexpected places and capturing them.

My buddy Tom and I decided to visit Washington's Panther Creek Falls on Friday. I'd only seen photos of it before. None of which could really prepare me for how huge the falls are. It's a surprise on the level of Proxy Falls in Central Oregon. The falls are only about 500 feet off of a backroad coming out of Carson, WA. Taking in this view from the bottom of the falls requires some serious climbing and scrambling skills. There's even two more tiers of falls below this one. More photos of that later.

It’s National Park Week! All US National Parks are free this week. Are you getting out to visit any? I’m gonna share my favorite photos from my visits to National Parks all week to celebrate.

Here’s one of the best (and coldest) sunrises of my life - from the 10,000′ summit of Haleakala National Park, Maui, Hawaii.

They live on the waters and it permeates their way of life. Reflections emphasize stark details and the duality of their world. Sepia was chosen to give time to the shot - this way of life has been happening for centuries. It feels suspended in time.

With all the snow outside, I thought I'd celebrate green! I've also discovered the joys of lemon water this winter too! What took me so long?!

Every now and then I dive into my archives and mess around with photos I overlooked. Here's a new favorite from last Spring's 2 day trip to Joshua Tree. I love finding hidden gems like this.

I just read about this morning's rock slide in Squamish, BC. 1000 cubic meters of rock broke off of Stawamus Chief and fell to the ground below. Thankfully, no one has been reported injured or missing. I was just there last month, exploring the Sea To Sky Highway and gondola ride.

After a day of hiking Arches National Park, we made camp on the BLM land on the outer reaches of Canyonlands National Park. While we were making dinner, a big storm front rolled in from the South, swallowing up all of the stars I was hoping to shoot. A huge bolt of lightning, just out of frame lit up the entire canyon enough for me to capture this photo in a single frame.

The future was born with the sunrise,

The sunrise that builds into days and even more years.

And as it rolls burning,

Burning up like the trails (of the comets pulled tails)

We'd look around until we find, we find...
