She inhabits a colorful world and this impressionistic take marries her lovely smile with colors and textures to tell her story. There is a feel of motion - the splatters and lines - a look of warm light - that compliment her beautiful smile. She was energetic and serene and that's what I tried to convey.

Ambient Warmth
Simple, but strong colors, draw my eye. Light is brilliant, highlighting around motion - increasing its power. Whimsical shapes morph with ICM (intentional camera movement) and create a bit of curiosity. There is ambient warmth but details that would help define time and place are absent. Abstract and inviting.

Crystal and Light
Mix crystal wine glasses with light and add a little, okay, a lot of color, and drama gives birth within the frame. Arcs repeat adding strength that balances with vibrant colors. Bokeh dances here and there. Focus plays between sharp and soft providing depth and contrast. Energy denotes motion. All the elements I need are here. Single layer; not a composite.

Here's a companion photo to another shot that I shared back in January. Within a couple minutes after taking the previous photo, a wispy little blanket of fog rolled in off of the Columbia River Gorge and enveloped us for a minute before moving into the trees.

It was a stormy morning in Yellowstone and we were wandering around this incredible landscape trying to photograph the buffalos running wild because of the thunder. The atmosphere and the early morning light made the walk surreal.
Time Keeps on Slipping
A bridge railing giving way to harsh weather loses its paint to the elements. Brilliant sun casts a diagonal shadow to give more drama to the strong colors. An hourglass of sorts - at least to my eye. I love finding little treasures in unexpected places and capturing them.

This happened today. A couple of dear friends and I went to explore Laguna Negra in Soria, which is three hours away from where we live. It may have been a long daytrip, but let me tell you that it's been one of the most colorful days of my life. I've never seen any landscape in such vivid colors before, and the photo that I present here tonight was just the beginning of what has been an incredible surprise. Just wait until you see what I have for your eyes in the next few days.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.
“A concise poem about our work as stated elow
A place without being
a thought without thinking
creatively, two dimensions
suspended animation
possibly a perfect imitation
of what was then to see.
A frozen memory in synthetic colour
or black and white instead,
fantasy dreams in magazines
become imbedded inside my head.
Artistic views
surrealistic hues,
a photographer’s instinctive eye:
for he does as he pleases
up to that point he releases,
then develops a visual high.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado.
"The state of Colorado planted Yellowstone cutthroats exclusively until sometime after 1974 (Beckman 1974). Since then, Snake River cutthroats have also been stocked in the state (Walker 1993). Both species have been stocked in the same drainages (Walker 1993)." nas.er.usgs.gov/queries/FactSheet.aspx?speciesID=890
According to the Colorado Division of Wildlife: "The rugged topography of their range has lead to isolation, which in turn has given rise to fourteen recognized subspecies. Four of these evolved in Colorado: the Colorado River cutthroat trout in drainages west of the continental divide, Greenback cutthroat trout in the South Platte and Arkansas River drainages, and the Rio Grande cutthroat trout in streams that drain into the San Luis Valley. In addition, the yellowfin cutthroat trout was historically found in Twin Lakes at the headwaters of the Arkansas drainage. Unfortunately, this predator that grew to over 10 lbs, is now extinct. All three remaining species have either been petitioned to be listed or are currently listed under the Endangered Species Act."
Regarding the Yellowstone CUtthroat, according to Wikipedia: "Native only to a few U.S. states, their original range was upstream of Shoshone Falls on the Snake River and tributaries in Wyoming, also across the Continental Divide in Yellowstone Lake and in the Yellowstone River as well as its tributaries downstream to the Tongue River in Montana.[1] The species is also found in Idaho, Utah and Nevada.[2]"
We are passionate about bringing a relaxed approach while creating beautiful, natural and vibrant images.
