I checked out the Gypsy Dance Theatre at the Texas Renaissance Festival (TRF) and immediately had my socks blown off. This group of belly dancers are incredible - not only are the individual stunningly photogenic but their dances are great. I caught part of several shows and each one was different. Great chemistry in this group.
The only downside of the entire event was the lighting - the daylight shows were in full, bright sunshine which created a lot of shadows and splotching - what a bummer - but all-in-all this was one of the best acts in the show.
I took this photo over the 6-7 November 2010 weekend and hope to go back again next year.
I always thought the Jaguar XJ-S was a long lithe looking beast but maybe I got that wrong judging by this Motormax example. To be fair to them, they inherited this old casting from Zylmex who's products were never particularly known for their quality or accuracy and were very much priced below the main competitors. Distinctly XJ-S but one which has eaten too many pies!
A charming play worn example found recently in a charity shop by Mikaela.
The first thing I wanted to try lithing today was some of the Prinz Bromal Linen paper from 1975. It actually wound up lithing really well - I yanked this print when it had been in the developer for just under 11 minutes - but the texture of the paper just kind of made for a weird result. Still, might be useful in an abstract image.

I am beginning to believe that our modern world perhaps needs to consider that we, serving as the primary intelligent life form on Earth; our modern world is just a small piece within a very large spinning wheel of life and humanity across the galaxy and across the Universe completely teeming with energy, light, color, light vs dark and infinite variations of light and life that perhaps our modern world is just on the cusp of beginning to understand only a small fraction of life that actually exists beyond our Planet.
I am starting to think that before our globe became fully populated with modern humanity; our transitory celestial ancestors used our ancient mounds as location markers and perhaps celestial communication centers for visitors to leave messages and information encoded within the stones deposited on these global grid markers informing and educating other visitors about their celestial origin and our planet's history of population, creation, and domain across deep time.
This three-dimensional piece is similar to a permanent virtual three-dimensional document that can only be read when using the key of the Sun's shadow. On first observation these cement glyph stones appear to mean absolutely nothing, however when you really look at this cement fragment; you suddenly realize the supreme complexity of this celestial triangulation multi-dimensional diagram.
There is an infinite multitude of variations of stones and artifacts on this site; however it is the cement based artifacts that really hold the most valuable information; yet they are hiding in plain sight and they can also crumble under the most stressful conditions.
If you follow the rule from smaller to larger; past tense-smaller and present tense larger; and maybe the light echoes tell a continuation of this narrative explaining what will happen in the future, yet to come, or a distance location????
Conclusion translation from left to right (past tense to future tense)
1. There are two specific celestial cultures or markers identified in this image field: white sphere marker (left and right) with a deep impression surrounding the white spherical raised marker (middle-left edge and upper right edge) ; these celestial points intersect with each other using a triangulation grid with the center serving as an intersection point connecting he small marker (middle-left) and large marker ( upper-right) through a horizontal transit passage that interconnects in the center along reverse triangulation points.
2. The second ancient celestial culture/marker is symbolized with an ochre pyramidal marker; perhaps these two light/dark opposing markers indicate a standard form of marking the two base triangulation points (B and C) with A being the celestial point where B and C converges and intersect. Perhaps the concept of our galaxy rotating around a central core redefining space and time as a non-entity within that central core; just as Albert Einstein theorized that only light can potentially merge time with space within a celestial black hole portal.
The center of this stone and most likely the center of our galaxy is known to hold at least one immense celestial portal (Sagittarius A *), however it is also widely estimated that the number of these portals existing within our Milky Way galaxy alone ranges in numbers between 10 million and possibly close to a billion. What does that mean??
Perhaps using Einstein's theory of merging time and space with light will help mankind get to the next level of fully understanding exactly how our celestial community was, is, and will be able to use these vast celestial portals like a stepping stones connecting two points in space with a direct line of light energy that ultimately erases the difference between time and space. Perhaps establishing a connection in space with one of these celestial portals allows for someone to pass instantaneously from one point to another using that distant portal in space as one of the points within a specific celestial triangle. Perhaps the instantaneous celestial movement is just a matter of re-establishing a new destination by simply altering the angles within this "Sacred" geometric triangle by perhaps only changing one of the points within this triangular grid. Perhaps that also explains that many of the symbolic lines of symbols found on this site works on the foundation that traveling within the same dimensional plane requires three symbolic markers (A, B, & C), and when traveling to another position within a three-dimensional cube, it requires four symbol within the structure of an arc; three symbols for one direction, and the fourth symbol to obtain a position within a second geometric plane. Perhaps the entire concept of navigation within a celestial sphere requires at least three triangulation entities rotating independently of each other in order to calculate moving from one portal opening to another within our galaxy???
Perhaps the entire science behind celestial travel within a three-dimensional cube requires calculating a series of rotating and spinning triangular geo-magnetic grids allowing for instantaneous celestial travel by easily jumping from one celestial rotation triangular grid to another; quickly arriving at a final destination from an original point of origin located within a separate dimensional plane all rotating independently from the center core of our galaxy????
3. The two opposite sides of this cement glyph diagram interconnect both sides by completing an independent triangulation structure based on interconnecting celestial points using the core physics of a conical spiral core structure all with the same intersection point as a central black hole/portal such as Sagittarius A* Portal.

It is difficult to ascertain whether the whitened quartz impression holding a shadow of the exact shape of the lower pyramidal ochre marker in the upper right quadrant is a celestial triangulation marker, a destination , or point of origin; however these triangular points appear align with each other at the peak point (A) of any given triangulation format (A, B, andC); and perhaps the concept of celestial travel can be easily explained by creating a series of celestial triangles establishing independent A, B, and C triangulation points that must be immediately reconfigured once you have reached your celestial destination within the gyroscope grid of constantly rotating celestial triangles that can instantaneously be opened and closed within the celestial grid of our core galaxy structured like a three dimensional cube???
Analyzing these extremely small celestial navigation maps take time, a lot of photos, and finally observing a stone many different times of the day and throughout the year; North America, culture unknown.

This profile (a (coarse-loamy, siliceous, active, hyperthermic Lithic Hapludoll) was photographed in São Paulo state Brazil SA. The soil is formed over calcareous sandstone at the edge, shoulder position below a plateau covered with Oxisols formed in thick oxidized sediments. The lithic contact, seen in this photo at 50 cm is at the limit of the Lithic subgroup classification. Mollisols formed in base enriched sediments from the calcareous sandstone also dominate the side slopes directly below this site are thicker and classify as Typic Hapludolls and Typic Argiudolls. Base saturation in the soils formed in and from sediments derived from the calcareous sandstone range from 50 to 90%. In surrounding Oxisols base saturation percentages are mostly less than 10%. Although Mollisols are present in only a small portion of the area their presence of in an area dominated by Oxisols illustrates the significance of parent material properties in determining soil properties.

Lithic Hapludolls have a shallow lithic contact. The mollic epipedon commonly extends to the rock. Some of the soils have impeded drainage because of shallow, impermeable rock. Lithic Hapludolls are of moderate extent and are widely distributed in the United States. Slopes are gentle to very steep. Many of the soils supported grasses, but some supported trees and shrubs. Most are used as rangeland or wildlife habitat.
Hapludolls are the Udolls that generally have a cambic horizon below a mollic epipedon. There may be a Bk horizon below the cambic horizon, and a few of the soils have enough secondary carbonates for a calcic horizon. Hapludolls formed mostly in Holocene or late-Pleistocene deposits or on surfaces of that age. Slopes generally are gentle, and most of the soils are cultivated. Hapludolls are extensive soils in Iowa, Minnesota, and adjacent states.
Udolls are the more or less freely drained Mollisols of humid climates. In addition to the mollic epipedon, these soils may have a cambic, calcic, natric, or argillic horizon. They formed mainly in late-Pleistocene or Holocene deposits or on surfaces of comparable ages. In the United States, their vegetation at the time of settlement was dominantly a tall grass prairie, but some of the soils on Pleistocene surfaces appear to have supported at some time a boreal forest that was supplanted by grasses several thousand years ago.

Nereocystis luetkeana (Mertens, 1829) - bull kelp (modern) on a lithic pebble beach in California, USA.
Bull kelp are a large type of brown algae that attach to hard substrates (= rocky seafloors) in high-energy, shallow subtidal marine environments. They have a holdfast; a long, tube-like axis (= stipe); a moderately large, gas-filled float (= pneumatocyst); and numerous, flattened, flexible blades. Their bodies can be extremely long. They are reported to be quick-growing - up to 2 feet per day! Bull kelp often form dense, underwater kelp forests. The species occurs along the western coast of America, Canada, and into the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.

An assortment of Native American stone tools. These are hammers and scrapers, found along the banks of the Susquehanna River near Wilkes-Barre, in the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania. The CD is for size comparison. I'm not in the business of selling artifacts, just wanted to show a few that I've found for anyone researching the subject. This is an updated photo, I added some new finds. I'll be adding more soon, too.
There is a Vulcan and a Lithic Heart at the centre of the images depending which two are meeting in the middle. The Vulcan Heart is a Vulcanised Tyre Heart and the Lithic Heart is made by the Stones coming together. The reflections bring about some excellent wyrd wonders.
There is a Grass Heart and Shadow Heart too. Everyone needs Picnic Heart and a Calm Heart. Well at least I think that we all need a Picnic Heart and a Calm Heart.
[Oh yes and there is a Shadow Dove flying along the centre too, that is it is a Shadow Dove unless you see it as a young cow in which there is a Shadow Coo in the centre grazing not ascending.]
Final point to be made is a suggestion that the metal balance in some of the pictures looks very Dragon Like. Please note Dragon Like, not a Dragon, just an echo calling and falling through the seasons and over the years. Once seen the Dragon Like resemblance is an image to reflect upon especially so with Dragon Lore mentioning the sleepy long slumbers of such mythic beast. In those legendary snooze times surely there might be a little flaking and descaling as fresh ‘solid feathers’, not squalid fetters, regrow, well I am happy to suggest so.
From out the earth it came and return back into it is going.

Westray Heritage Centre
I am very happy to introduce you my new line BiDoll Lithe. The dolls in this line possess a different type of sexuality, they look tall and skinny. The name BiDoll consists of two parts. Bi translated from Latin means “two” or “double”. When I worked on Lithe characters the double meaning inspired me. I wanted to create two dolls that are different and the same at once. The unicorn, the legendary and magical creature, also inspired me. MonokeRos is one of the names for unicorn that people used from ancient times. It sounded to me that the name consists of two - Monoke and Ros, and I decided to give these names to my new dolls. At the very beginning my goal was to create a complex costumed doll using different techniques such as jewelry making, embroidery, etc. I believe that my goal is accomplished. The costume is very complicated and the embroidery was done over the tiny mesh fabric. Over 100 hours of work was spent on embroidery only. The corset, shoes and the crown are made from metal and gold plated with 18K gold. BiDoll Lithe MonokeRos is a piece of art that made in porcelain, painted with China paints, it comprises the jewelry making and fashion design techniques. MonokeRos is a synthesis of many arts and designs in one object. I am very happy that I could use all my skills in one work and show many sides in the art of making a doll. Soil profile: A representative soil profile of a Lithic Hapludoll from the Cerrado physiographic region--a vast tropical savanna ecoregion of Brazil, particularly in the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Minas Gerais and the Federal District of Brazil.
Landscape: In this region, shallow soils dominate the steeper upper sideslopes and narrow ridges.

Mollisols are a soil order in USDA soil taxonomy. Mollisols form in semi-arid to semi-humid areas, typically under a grassland cover. They are most commonly found in the mid-latitudes, namely in North America, mostly east of the Rocky Mountains, in South America in Argentina (Pampas) and Brazil, and in Asia in Mongolia and the Russian Steppes. Their parent material is typically base-rich and calcareous and include limestone, loess, or wind-blown sand. The main processes that lead to the formation of grassland Mollisols are melanisation, decomposition, humification and pedoturbation.
Mollisols have deep, high organic matter, nutrient-enriched surface layersl (A horizon), typically more than 25 cm thick. This fertile surface horizon, known as a mollic epipedon, is the defining diagnostic feature of Mollisols. Mollic epipedons result from the long-term addition of organic materials derived from plant roots, and typically have soft, granular soil structure.
In the Brazil soil classification system, Chernossolos are soils with high clay activity that are very dark, well structured, rich in organic matter, high content of exchangeable cations. They are commonly not deep (<100cm) and are mostly found in the south and east parts of Brazil.

ΑΦΗΣΕ ΜΕ ΝΑ ΤΗΣ ΠΩ ΠΩΣ ΔΕ ΞΕΧΑΣΑ ΝΑ ΖΩ
Let me be the one to say how not to forget life.
Trinity held up a finger to signify there being one more thing, and walked toward the female - her body lithe and smooth. Trinity's tail flicked back and forth as she approached Amara, lightly grazing Ioh as she moved past him. She raised her hand to reach out and place it palm down on Amara's forehead.
Ioh kept his stance, noting the swagger of the pale cat. He felt the graze and smiled. Ioh was not in any hurry to move, and so kept his station until dismissed.
Amara blinked as Trinity's hand rested on her forehead. Normally Amara was against any invasion of personal space, but she doesn't flinch at this action. Quietly she stood, wondering what the woman intended to accomplish. Her gaze did not waiver. Her hands lowered to her sides.
Trinity placed her hand upon Amara's forehead for a moment and locked eyes with the female. "Will you abide by all rules this house may enforce? Do you promise to serve your Bastets to the best of your ability?" The formed phrases rolled off her pink tongue and dripped down the ruby red lips that again refused to smile.
Amara was visibly relaxed at the question. An oath. "I will do my best and then some to be of aid to this group. I promise to abide by the rules of this establishment, Bastet." She may be a loner, but even Amara understood the value and benefit of a group setting in a city such as this.
Ioh watched and couldn't help but perceive the solemnity of the ceremony. It was something familiar, but distant to him. And both things held to him a sense of restrained awe and feelings of sadness and regret that, while he accepted the ceremony and respected it, it held him to something uncomfortable that he couldn't or wouldn't explain at this moment.
Trinity nodded and closed her eyes. Amara felt an odd tingling sensation that accompanied many nekomata rituals. Though the feeling was more uncommon now than in the earlier tribes in the before times. It was clear this was not a normal family setting for cats, as it was governed by magics similar to those lycans shared in their packs. The piercing wave of energy assert the Bastet over the cat who was now her family. She pulled her hand away and turned to Iohannes holding out her palm to place on his forehead as well, sensing that Roxy hadn't or rather wouldn't assert herself like this. People who have been around cats might remember that this is how feral felines assert themselves. The piercing blue of her eyes found his and she said again in her monotonous whisper, "Do you abide by all rules this house may enforce? Do you promise to serve your Bastets to the best of your ability?" The power of the words echo in her voice, the residual effects from the previous oath she had made Amara take.
Ioh felt the wave of energy. It was familiar, though still distant, but was understood. He was happy for Amara, to be with family. And, he knew soon it will come to him. Nerves brought out a twitch in his tail that could not be minded then and there. But, even so, the feel of her hand on his forehead, and then the piercing of her eyes into his, they brought a wave of calm to him that he had not felt for a long while. He knew this was right. His eyes glimmered that green again as he said, "I do." The assent crisp and clear.
Amara stepped back. Her forehead was still warm from Trinity's touch. The tingling sensation struck her as weird. Amara had not been around magically capable felines before. The uneasiness reflected on her face and in the submissive stance her body took. It was not quite fear and yet it felt very much like that exact sensation.
Trinity nods to him and pulls her hand away. The wave of feral energy wells around them again. She tilts her head at both of them and says in the same quiet way, "This place is your home now. Protect our home and our secrets. Prove you are worthy and you will learn the ways of our ancestors. " She looks from one to the other, touching their cheeks. First Amara's and then Ioh's in a fond and almost caring way. Pity is on her face for the smallest of moments, as though pained that they, like so many others, have seemingly been cut off from their roots. Then again many cats, even in the wild have stayed stray their whole lives. This is no different.

Amara seemed lost by the woman's change in mood as her cheek was caressed. She wondered why she had followed Ioh, and if she had made the right decision. It was never in her nature to arrive some place new and grow attached. She let herself be cut from that a long time ago. She glanced at Ioh, sighing to herself. "Mmhmm," she murmured softly.
Trinity let her hands drop from their persons. "Now go," she spoke in a much different voice. "I need to retire for the evening. You are welcome to rest here if you like. Be wary of what lay beyond our sanctuary, however." She held up a hand in warning, "I cannot protect you, and, needless to say, if I need to, you have already failed me." She raised an eyebrow and pointed toward the downstairs ramp, dismissing them. She folded her arms and moved past them without another word. Her tail and hips again moved hypnotically, caressing any thighs, hips or feet that might be too close as she passed. Her pawed feet carry her to the edge of the roof. Wind throws her hair behind her and she contemplates the landscape of the city for some time before resting.
Ioh nodded to her words and took his leave down the ramp, feeling a bump as he passed her, and looked back to see her surveying the city before walking down the ramp, pausing for a moment later to see if Amara had followed.
Amara bowed lower than she did during their initial greeting. "Thank you Bastet," she stated softly before following Ioh down the ramp.
30/365 - Madison, WI: My view from the DJ booth at the kick-off party for Fire Ball weekend. This is the incredible Dahlia Fatale, doing her thing on stage at Inferno. I dream of being that flexible, but mostly just so playing roller derby would take less of a toll on my body.
This photo was taken in Pima County, Arizona. The soil is formed from granite rock and creep material on a 35% slope at an elevation of 7,240 feet. A lithic contact is present at 40 cm. A few tree roots are present below that contact but the horizontal spacing is greater the 10 cm. The soils support sparse stands of Ponderosa Pine. Little timber has been harvested from these sites due to the difficult terrain and the low density of mature trees. Tree growth is slow and mature pines are usually of small stature.

A Leptic Haplogypsid, petrogypsic from the interior of the UAE.
Leptic Haplogypsids are the Haplogypsids that have a gypsic horizon with its upper boundary within 18 cm of the soil surface. These soils do not have a lithic contact within 50 cm of the soil surface. In the United States they occur in Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico.
The gypsic horizon is a horizon in which gypsum has accumulated or been transformed to a significant extent (secondary gypsum (CaSO 4) has accumulated through more than 150 mm of soil, so that this horizon contains at least 5% more gypsum than the underlying horizon). It typically occurs as a subsurface horizon, but it may occur at the surface in some soils.
This pedon has a petrogypsic horizon at a depth of 100 to 200 cm and is identified as a "phase" in classification. In the UAE soil classification system, phases of soil taxa have been developed for those mineral soils that have soil properties or characteristics that occur at a deeper depth than currently identified for an established taxonomic subgroup or soil properties that effect interpretations not currently recognized at the subgroup level. The phases which have been identified in the UAE include: anhydritic, aquic, calcic, gypsic, lithic, petrocalcic, petrogypsic, salic, salidic, shelly, and sodic.

The Thiruvangad temple in Thalassery, Kannur, contains some interesting sculptures and lithic records. The sculpture depicted is of Lord Rama, one of the most adored gods of Hindus who is known as an ideal man and hero of the epic Ramayana, an ancient Sanskrit epic considered as one of the most famous love stories of all time. Rama is always shown holding a bow and arrow indicating his readiness to destroy evils. He is pictured here with his wife Sita, brother Lakshman and devotee Hanuman, the mighty monkey deity seen sitting near Lord Rama's feet. Rama's life and journey is one of perfect adherence to dharma despite harsh tests of life and time. He is pictured as the ideal man and the perfect human. Sita's absolute love for her husband, Lakshman's loyalty and Hanuman's devotion are stuff of legends.
Rama is worshipped as the very symbol of moksha, the ultimate goal and destination of all life, and the best example of perfect character and human conduct, inspiring human beings for countless succeeding ages. Be it as a manifestation of God or simply as a legendary hero of myths and folktales, Rama is an immensely revered and inspirational figure to people across the Indian subcontinent and South East Asia, as well as increasingly across Western civilization. His regal bearing and fighting prowess is emulated in various Indian martial arts which in turn influenced various Southeast Asian fighting systems such as Muay Thai and Silat.

I was at the Sherwood Forest Faire near McDade, TX (SE of Austin) in March 2013. I happened upon a belly dance troupe called GypsyEyes. Wow - this is an amazing group of dancers - a lot of class and grace - and a lot of fun to watch. I caught two shows the first day and one on the second day - and enjoyed each of them! I need to find out more about this troupe and catch them again in the future.

I checked out the Gypsy Dance Theatre at the Texas Renaissance Festival (TRF) and immediately had my socks blown off. This group of belly dancers are incredible - not only are the individual stunningly photogenic but their dances are great. I caught part of several shows and each one was different. Great chemistry in this group.
The only downside of the entire event was the lighting - the daylight shows were in full, bright sunshine which created a lot of shadows and splotching - what a bummer - but all-in-all this was one of the best acts in the show.
I took this photo over the 6-7 November 2010 weekend and hope to go back again next year.
