Another one from our fantastic sunrise at St. Mary Lake, in Glacier National Park, MT. This was taken about a 30 minutes before sunrise and is a blend of three exposures. I've heard that smashing the "L" on your keyboard will bring happiness... :)

I've been revisiting some shots I'd never really looked at, except to pop them in a folder that was to look at again. Which I never did. Alas, they were taken amongst a bunch of others that were much better, and so I had forgotten them. I reckon I'm gonna start posting some of them here and there. Quite a few are this sort of sun lit trip I've been getting more into.
Sometimes when I'm out taking photos I start off shooting in color and then I decide that I'm not feeling it and will switch to black and whtie - that's exactly what happened here. In case you're wondering that flower is red but it was competing too much with the wonderful light that I was trying to capture.
Anna’s hummingbirds stay through the winter here on, more or less, the 49th parallel. They wake from their nightly torpor exactly at sunrise and begin the all-consuming task of consuming, with a big dose of chasing other Anna’s added for daily exercise. There are a handful of blooms to exploit for nectar, but not nearly enough to sustain so they shift to more meat in the diet. Tiny spiders and gnats provide the calories - Anna’s can be seen working up and down and inside cracks in the old cottonwoods just like the rest of the little birds.
We have chosen to augment the food options of the native population. We have added winter bloomers to the garden, witch hazel and viburnum, and nectar feeders. Lit with one tiny lightbulb to keep the nectar from freezing, one hangs in front and one in back of the house. Four magnificent males spend the day perched nearby, sparring with each other and all comers.
Ah, sunrise! The Anna’s are zooming past the windows. The battle begins.

On an afternoon walk with the dog the sun found its way through stems and branches. It felt like magic when this little plant was lit surrounded by giants.

For Our Daily Challenge today, "all lit up".
This challenge got me thinking, and I had a heap of ideas a nd found some good spots for it too!
However, I chose this shot…. Why? Photography is all about light. It is about being able to see the light. Seeing where the light falls and how you can use it in an image.
In landscape photography at sunset (and sunrise), I'm always looking for interesting foregrounds and focal points that are "all lit up" in the golden light.
I actually spotted this scene as I finished my sunset session, and was about 10 feet from the car. I "saw" the light shining on the fence. It was "all lit up" in the last glow from the sun.

Not the best landscape, I know… But I kinda liked the silhouette and I liked the quote. I thought it fit!
