Burdocks lit from behind in warm late evening sunlight.

Burdock and Velcro

After taking his dog for a walk one day in the early 1940s, George de Mestral, a Swiss inventor, became curious about the seeds of the burdock plant that had attached themselves to his clothes and to the dog's fur. Under a microscope, he looked closely at the hook system that the seeds use to hitchhike on passing animals aiding seed dispersal, and he realized that the same approach could be used to join other things together. The result of his studies was Velcro.[5]

After shooting CP's Holiday Train in nearby Delson, I stopped by the Exporail parking lot in St-Constant to shoot OSC 25, which is decorated with Christmas lights. This engine was built by Baldwin in 1900 and not retired until 1962.

Struggled to choose between this and the b/w daisy for today's April challenge pic.

Could see the neighbor's tree out our back windows and thought I would get a closer look.

Unjudging, unfeeling, statuesque... "Jesus had days like this..."

One of several different statues on display in the St James Cathedral, it was also the only one I could get a clear shot of without disrupting the prayer of people sitting throughout the church.

The Lit & Phil was founded in 1793 and has been at home on Westgate Road in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne since 1825.

New recruits, Oh boy. I swear to god these 'Shiners' are going to make me kill myself'. Today we have had 3 incidents of friendly fire, 2 unwanted detonations and 1 bitch fight. I can't complain, I nearly killed all my Commanders on Geonosis by accident. Ah good times.

I'm starting a new time in my life. Fy'Sha is back and I have new troopers to train. Nothing too bad. Although the nwe recruits consider themselves Commandos I will knock some sense into them and have all four of them cleaning my boots by the next rotation. "

Thank you for all the well wishes, I am feeling a bit better today.

About Chinatown

Singapore's Chinatown is an ethnic neighbourhood featuring distinctly Chinese cultural elements and a historically concentrated ethnic Chinese population. Chinatown is located within the larger district of Outram.

As the largest ethnic group in Singapore is Chinese, Chinatown is considerably less of an enclave than it once was. (Note: The name Chinatown (唐人街) is usually used by non-Chinese Singaporeans whereas Chinese Singaporeans usually use the term Niu Che Shui (牛车水) as the term Chinatown (唐人街) usually refers to enclaves of Chinese people in regions where Chinese people are the minority ethnic group.) However, the district does retain significant historical and cultural significance. Large sections of it have been declared national heritage sites officially designated for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. In China, it is known as "Spring Festival," the literal translation of the Chinese name 春節 (Pinyin: Chūn Jié), since the spring season in Chinese calendar starts with lichun, the first solar term in a Chinese calendar year. It marks the end of the winter season, analogous to the Western carnival. The festival begins on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: Zhēng Yuè) in the traditional Chinese calendar and ends with Lantern Festival which is on the 15th day. Chinese New Year's Eve, a day where Chinese families gather for their annual reunion dinner, is known as Chú Xī (除夕) or "Eve of the Passing Year." Because the Chinese calendar is lunisolar, the Chinese New Year is often referred to as the "Lunar New Year".
