This mountain, split into two parts, is a very impressive sight bringing pilgrims flocking by their thousands to venerate our Lord here. “Montagna Spaccata” (Split Mountain) is widely believed to have split the moment Jesus died on the Cross on Calvary, thousands of miles off in the Holy Land.

According to the legend, at the time when the Saracens were overrunning Europe, a Turkish pirate, who did not believe that the rock had split at the death of Jesus, touched the rock and said, “If this is true, then let this rock become liquid.” As he spoke, the rock liquified and gave way to the imprint of his hand. You can put your fingers into the hand print today!

Happy Mother's Day!

Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.

Original was done in Incendia but I didn't like it so I liquified it in Photoshop.

You can use any image for this..the more colours the better, i used paint shop pro..uploaded to Liquify, chose the size of the brush i liked, i found bigger to be to my liking..then go mad basically :))Then framed using borders.

Jumping spiders inject digestive juices into their prey and then suck out the liquified insides, leaving only an external shell at the end of their meals.

A little self promotion...

Hallstatt, Oberösterreich, Austria

Hallstatt is situated in the south-western shore of the Hallstätter See. The town lies in the geographical region of Salzkammergut, on the national road linking Salzburg and Graz.

The village also gave its name to the early Iron Age Hallstatt culture and is a World Heritage Site for Cultural Heritage.

Salt was a valuable resource, so the region was historically very wealthy. It is possible to tour the world's first known salt mine, located above downtown Hallstatt. I didn't take the tour this time but I have taken it at least four times before... If you ever go there I suggest you take the tour, it's great fun.

I went there because I saw a picture of the town and I wanted to take that very same shot... bad idea. That never works. The first thing I noticed when we got there was a huge yellow crane in the middle of the town spoiling the view. Besides the construction I couldn't get to the place the "other" picture had been taken from. It must have been taken whether from a private boat or some private property. Oh well... it would have been the wrong time of day anyway... and I didn't have a car and couldn't roam around as I pleased, e.g. get up before sunrise to drive there.

About

Eat your greens, or else...

I turn into a bogey man and gonna stuff that large vegtable up y* ! Lol !

The shot

I tried to look angry while my wife took some pictures of me holding this rather large version of a courgette,

really had to suppress a bit of laugther there, it shows, doesn't it? Hahaha.

It worked quite well in the end, only had to take 4 or 5 shots to come up with something I could use.

Photoshop

Nothing, hahaha, no seriously I really had to beautify myself if I ever had my portrait on flickr !-)

° Most work was done with the liquify filter, you really should try that out some day, or else...

° A hue/saturation/lightness with the colorize option checked, chose a greenish colour with the hue slider, inverted the mask and the painted the green back in on the right side, used the opacity slider the make it more subtle.

° Did some dodging and burning to make the horns on my head capture the light as well.

An extreme edit of Carmen, this took me hours to do, directly below in the comments there is a before and after comparion of the edits that I have made to the original photo, the original photo was cropped though, to make comparision to the edited one easier.

This is Carmen, I met her on Model Mayhem, her Model Mayhem number is: 1209787.

About the Photo

*Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS *Lens: EF-S 18-55mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 IS *Shutter Speed: 1/4 Sec. *Aperture Value: ƒ/6.3 *ISO: 100 *Focal Length: 55mm (80mm Equivalent in 35mm Film)

I shot this in a tripod, using mirror lockup and a 2 Sec. selftimer, while the model was standing in a tight alley. I used a 60" Westcott reflective umbrella positioned outside of the alley beside the camera to provide the key light. Shot into the umbrella I had a Canon Speedlite 430EX II at full power and at 105mm, triggered by a Canon ST-E2 wireless Speedlite transmitter on the camera.

I opened the RAW file in ACR and adjusted the colours, clarity and vibrance a bit. Then I opened it in CS4 and cloned little things out and saved as a 16 bit TIFF and made a brighter and a darker version of the image and loaded all three of them into Photomatix Pro.

The process I followed here is similar to the one I used on this one. It involved a softly lit shot that was detail enhanced, tone mapped, then softened with blur and healing tools then blended with the detailed version it a way that gives a great balance of tones and detail from HDR processing without looking overdone or too unnatural. I darkened the background and feathered it around her face, I added a subtle amount of gaussian blur to everything in the photo except her face and the yellow parts of her hair. I used dodging and burning to bring out the eyes and saturated them with the sponge tool. I also used liquify to slightly change the shape of some of her facial features. Her right eye is actually a mirror image of her left eye, because her right eye was looking slightly more upwards than the other one, so I made a copy, reversed it, and put it over the other eye and used curves to change the look of the new eye to match the look of the older eye.

I used the liquify tool here to change a few things, made my head bigger, thought it gave it a more doll like look.

please be kind with your comments!

What an effect you get when you use liquify and the disperison brushes.

The Pompilid spider wasps are active hunters of spiders as food for their developing larva. Spiders are caught, paralysed and sealed alive into an egg chamber to be devoured by the wasp larva when it hatches.

The adult wasps themselves are not carnivorous and feed on nectar, tree sap or fruit. However this individual was sorting through (and seemingly consuming) the liquified remains of a dismembered arthropod.

Just to be clear: I did not slim/size her down because I thought that she wasn't as beautiful as is, or because I do not respect pregnancy. I am a mother myself and know what pregnancy feels and looks like. However I am an artist, too. And although she was an adorable pregnant woman and her body is perfect as it is, I had something in mind I wanted to create. For a portrait to be displayed on a large canvas for an exhibition, I needed a mom to be willing to act as my model. Since she came pretty close to my vision (haircolor etc) I asked her if she was fine with me taking an image just for myself and marketing purposes. She was, and so we took the shot and I altered the image to my liking and how I fee that it would attract potential customers.

I ended up showing the final result to her, and she was absolutely thrilled btw. So anyways, I just wanted to clarify the purpose of the edit, just in case people are going to shout out "why the heck I altered a client's body that much"

ADDITIONAL NOTES.

Owned by Tiger Railcar Leasing (UK) Ltd. This LPG Ferry Tank Wagon was originally built for Tank Rentals Ltd which was the manufacturer (Charles Roberts) own wagon leasing company. TRL was bought out by Tiger Rail Ltd in May 1976 which can cause confusion as both coincidentally share the same initials. From new these 20 ton capacity LPG tanks had always been leased to ICI Petrochemicals Ltd and were used between ICI Haverton Hill works on Teesside and destinations in mainland Europe carrying Liquified Petroleum Gas. They were built dual braked but many later lost their vacuum brake capability in favour of air only. Originally numbered 21 70 078 0 353 - 372 they were renumbered as part of a large UIC renumbering that took place in 1980. In the early 1980's new German bogie tanks took over much of the traffic these tanks were used for between the European mainland and the UK. Around the same time 6 of the 25 were transferred into a pool carrying Butadiene a highly flammable liquified gas between ICI Wilton Works and the Dow Chemical Factory at Kings Lynn. The vehicle seen here on a wet winters days in Whitemoor Yard was one of the six used for this traffic with its UN dangerous goods panel showing product 1010 'Butadienes'.

took a picture of a clock and a tree in the park. I used the perspective transformation to really get that dalí look. I used hue and saturation to get a red tinge that I saw on the painting background. I used liquify to make the clock look liquidy.
