Been playing with an old shot, using liquify to try to create a tip to the sword, which was actually out of shot. This is my grandson who just seems to encapsulate the message of this old school hymn written by Jan Struther, of Mrs Miniver fame. She was an agnostic, apparently. Maddox was in the garden shed playing with an old wooden sword looking for all the world like an illustration for the hymn. Natural light for a change:

It's shots like this that remind me why I love shooting film.
Today was my cross training day (from running) and went to our local boxing gym and got a great workout in. In light of this, I was inspired to do a boxing related shot this evening. Photoshop (with the help of the liquify tool) can certainly rearrange and swell up a person's face... ;)

A small lake in Freux (the Belgian Ardennes) filled with the fallen leaves of trees.
I had been looking at the original with sky for so long but never really liked the absolute dull gray that seemed almost out of place with the colorful display in the lake, so I finally took some action to make it into something I do like.
HDR shoot
Standard 3 exposure HDR [-2,0,+2EV] at f/9 using the Sigma 10-20mm lens on the floor of a small jetty.
Photomatix
Tonemapped using the detail enhancer.
Photoshop
° Copied the water and pasted it into a new layer and performed a vertical flip.
° Applied a liquify filter to get the resonating line in the middle.
° High pass sharpening ( See here for description ).

I am experimenting with recently purchased Topaz software. It amazes me with the filter effects possible. On this subject I applied Topaz Glow using Liquify and brilliant fibers presets.

BNSF's Liquified Natural Gas test train ran west out of Topeka, KS on 2/9/2014 behind BNSF SD70ACe's #9130 and 9131. The train was operating as the D-TOPPUE1-08M and is headed west to the AAR test track in Pueblo, CO. Following the engines are BNSF's test cars Kootenai River and Canyon Diablo.
Following a crew change, we see the 9130 flying down the mainline on the Emporia Sub at Merrick Tower in Emporia. Its amazing how quickly 8,000 hp can get three cars up and running.

This monument represents the cultural heritage of Qatar where, most locals specially men were fishermen and pearl divers. It is from here where Qatar is known for. Then came the discovery of Liquified Petroleum Gas and Crude oil.
In the early morning sun 45023 stands at the head of a train of liquified ammonia tanks from Heysham for ICI Severnside. As the signal boxws in the Avonmouth area were not manned overnight sometimes a train had to be recessed at Stoke Gifford, this was one such train. Liquified Ammonia was a dangerous goods traffic and required a guard to ride at the rear of the train the brake van on the front will be at the rear when the train runs round at Hallen Marsh, 7/9/83
