A good reason to learn your liquify tool.

I like to subtly enhance people in the images I produce.

For this image I converted to black and white using the gradient map and curves. I cropped the image and then fixed my canvas using the rectangle selector and transform.

Then I entered liquify, I slimmed the waist using the forward warp tool and I shaped the shoulders and arms using the forward warp and bloat tools. Dad will never know but he will see it and think he looks totally hot.

Gotta love liquify

Liquified Natural gas heads west via CNR toward Asia (via Prince Rupert BC), through Jasper AB 9 Jul 2025

Two Florida East Coast Railway ES44C4’s split by a company liquified natural gas fuel tender take in the superelevated curve at MP 335 right before the Cypress Creek Canal. #FEC817, one of 23 GEVOs on the roster, takes the charge on southbound train 103-26, a Jacksonville to Miami manifest with 155 cars for FEC’s southernmost terminal.

Scenes of regular mid-afternoon southbound manifests on the FEC mainline between West Palm Beach and Miami have now become scenes one would wish to see, and not expect. Later on in 2022, FEC management would fiddle with their train lineups and adjust trains 103 and 204 to terminate and originate, respectively, in Fort Pierce, FL, it being one of the smaller terminals along the mainline that still received a significant amount of traffic. From then on, southbound manifest traffic would be split up between the three remaining road freights to Hialeah Yard, trains 101, 105 and 107.

I've got a bit of a thing for marbling, especially if it involves chocolate on the top of cake.

(Which this obviously doesn't)

Please view large. I used a lot of liquify on this; it's my new toy! Thank you Vint for your tutorial!! You are the best :))

1. Share 3 Photoshop tips (or any post-processing, camera or photography-in-general tips):

a) Advancing Retouching using the Liquify Filter

- Open the image to be corrected in Photoshop, and open the Liquify Filter dialog box by going to Filter > Liquify. Make sure you get up close to the area you want to correct.

- Select Pucker Tool. This tool ‘sucks’ pixels inwards in the direction of the brush-stroke.

- When you finish, click ok to return to the main Photoshop window.

b) Lens Distortion

- Open the Lens Correction filter (Filter > Distort > Lens Correction) and adjust the Remove Distortion slider until you achieve the desired effect.

c) Text Effects: Horizontal Type Mask Tool

- Choose another image that you want to use as the texture for you text. Select the Horizontal Type Mask Tool from the Tool Bar and type your text. The screen will become a quick mask, which is why there is a reddish tint overlaying your image.

- Click on the Move Tool in the Tool Bar to deselect the Type Tool, leaving just the outline of the text on the image.

- Press Ctrl/Cmd+C to copy the selection. Go back to your main image and paste in the selection by pressing Ctrl/Cmd+V. Move the pasted text to its correct position.

- To add a motion blur effect, duplicate the layer. Go to the main menu and select Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Adjust the angle and distance of the blur and click ok.

2. Three places you like to photograph:

a) I would love to take pictures of the Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. The carved spires create wonderful colors, especially with the rising and the setting of the sun.

b) I would love to travel to Japan during the season of the Cherry Blossom flowers. Cherry Blossom flowers are so rare here that they don’t have a lot of them. Plus, they only last for 2 weeks.

c) Tahiti has always been on my list for places to travel to. There’s just something about it that makes me want to travel there. The waters so clear, hotels on the water, beautiful scenery, lunch on water, it just can’t get any better.

3. Name 3 Photographers you admire:

Alex Filatov (aka NYCPhotography.ORG): Alex has an amazing talent on showing me the wonders of big city life. The color, composition and presentation are always excellent. He has amazing daylight landscapes and architectural shots. Every image just stands out. Thank you for inspiring me and sharing your work, Alex!

Patrick Smith (aka PatrickSmithPhotography): Looking at each and every picture of Patrick’s inspires me even more. Every picture is just so WOW. The timing and angle are always perfect. He’s an amazing Landscape & Seascape Photographer!

Daniel Ewert: I can glad that I came across Daniel’s photo stream. It clearly shows that he has a love of nature’s beauty and light. I am extremely impressed by his work. Keep it coming Daniel!

Your own photography is never enough. Every photographer who has lasted has depended on other peoples pictures too - photographs that may be public or private, serious or funny but that carry with them a reminder of community. - Robert Adams

I couldn't resist trying some processing with this one: a bit of Liquify in Topaz Glow.

A representation of sunlight dancing on the waves in the sea. I think I was guided by my love of water and the wish to go to the sea ... Listening to music about daydreaming and the sea ... The waves seem to move if you watch long enough ... And you can see fishes ;-)

Mindy gets to play model for my in my studio, and Topaz Glow is too much fun. Combine the two, and you get something like this.

NS Eastbound Liquified Petroleum Gas Train 396 passes through 7th Avenue in Birmingham, Al. on NA #1 Main with KCS Southern Belle ES44AC 4787 leading an NS C40-8 & a KCS Southern Belle SD70ACe as the United States of America Flag waves in the breeze above the train. This Liquified Petroleum Gas business is something new running on NS this year, at least in new in these parts

As you can clearly see, I'm soooooo out of my comfort zone on this one!

Figured I'd try something a lil' different :)

The searchlights in Fort Lauderdale have their days numbered as work for Brightline continues toward Miami. All along the FEC in southern Florida, searchlights are being taken down and replaced with the newer style 'vader' style signals.

Luckily this morning, FEC train 109 ran at a good time for me to shoot them passing these endangered signals.

This is week 3 of my Project 52 Imagine the Unimaginable.

This hand is actually made up of four photos. The top of the thumb, index finger and middle finger where cut from other photos and pasted into the main image. The trick was to take several photos of my hand with the same lighting but rotate my hand so the shadows would be in different places. That way the finger cubes would have different orientations according to the shadows.

SALISH EAGLE entered service on the Tsawwassen–Southern Gulf Islands route in June 2017. Salish Raven entered service for the Southern Gulf Islands on August 3, 2017. These vessels replaced Queen of Nanaimo and Queen of Burnaby.

The four Salish-class vessels, Salish Eagle, Salish Orca, Salish Raven and Salish Heron, have a displacement of 4,227 long tons and all measure 8,728 gross tonnage (GT) and max 864 tons deadweight (DWT).

Salish-class vessels are 351 ft 8 in long overall and 330 ft. 4 in between perpendiculars. The ferries have a beam of 77 ft. 1 in, They are powered by dual-fuel engines capable of using liquified natural gas (LNG) or diesel fuel to operate. The engines are rated at 5,952 horsepower.

They were the first vessels in British Columbia to be powered by LNG.They have a maximum speed of 15.5 knots 17.8 mph. Each ship has two car decks. This was one of the first few photos I got, can see the fangs. This little guy wasn't too bothered with my presence. I ended up breaking off the little bit of branch he was sitting on and placing it in the grass allowing for some 5X shots.

1 Raw. Background liquified.

This is by far the weirdest thing I've ever done. Maybe I was influenced by my friend Corie's recent picture, or an upcoming project by my fellow photog friend Alisha. But, either way...

We're creepy and we're kooky. Mysterious and spooky. We're all together ooky...

Well.. as I was working on Travelhost tonight I started thinking about this frame that Tam and I got last night. It's one of those with the super wide mat that you can get everyone to sign at the wedding... but I started thinking again about self portrait artists.

Van Gogh was a lot like us! Seems like most of his paintings were of himself.

Plus... someone asked me the other day... "Anyone ever tell you you look like Van Gogh?"

15/52: Like a Painting

Today I liquified my face and permanently altered the contour of the Mississippi. What did you do?

Ironically enough, I felt like screaming while taking this picture, because it started snowing, and then again while editing it, because it took six hours. It turns out The Scream was painted at a very, very, VERY implausible angle.

Happy Sliders Sunday!

A closeup photo of a glass vase filled with Christmas ornaments also reflected the front windows. Some of the photo included the swirls created by the glass, and I used a liquify tool to disguise what was clearly the front door!

I kind of thought the water in this shot looked a little like liquid metal. :)

Im 4 weeks into my project and I can feel my old ways, plans and ideas slowly becoming fresh again and better than ever. Ive started to think in ways towards my images that have given me back hope that my passion will become my savior when things get tough. Life is tough, but so am I.

Ill stay forever young if I can keep my ideas flowing because ill never waste a second of my day.

Took me a while to make myself look old through Photoshop and I got sadder as I went on, ha. I made a wrinkle brush and burned the pore so they stood out better, I then used liquify to sag the face :) I was about to start receding and removing the hair but I couldn't bare seeing it :') I wasn't sure how I could show my edit so I just slapped some colour in the shadows :')
