Down at Turimetta with Mark ~ Dex & Gordan was heaps warmer than this morning at Long Reef.
We decided to do some light painting with-out graffitti in it and go for a more natural look.
This shot was made with a torch from a single exposure of 574 seconds F8 ISO 200
The colour in the sky actually comes from the lights on the Narrabeen pool.
Oia village, Santorini, Greece, lightpainted the church a little using a flashlight, it was also starting to rain more steadily, so I didn't have much time to linger and perform magical tricks. I went back to the car just in time, it rained cats, dogs, and fcking dragons 30 minutes later.

I've been looking for a stairway to rotate for ages. Tonight we found a suitable stairway and it would have been rude not to spin steel wool on it! Thanks goes here to Lee for the spinnage!
This is one of my favorite light painted images I have done under the full moon.

This one surprised me that I liked it. My wife Liz shone her light straight at me and I figured that this shot was ruined. The light on the right side is the light house on St Simons Island.I have to say I enjoy processing these light painting pictures almost as much as shooting them.
Although it really takes me too long because of all the decision making involved.
Deep in the forest you will find this earth cellar. Legend says that people has seen a blazing light from it. But faded when they approached it.
One foggy night, I decided to set up the camera to take a photography every ten minutes. And this is what was on a photo from that night 😱

Djupt inne i skogen finns denna jordkällare. Folksägner säger att människor sett ett flammande ljus från den. Men falnat då de närmat den.
En dimmig natt beslutade jag mig för att rigga kameran att ta ett kort vart tionde minut. Och detta är vad som fanns på ett kort från den natten 😱

2 frames stacked, a group effort by myself and Syn-ack.
Not my best ever work but everything was stacked against me. I had emptied my car for a business trip of all the usual LP gear and had to make do with a gelled torch and a green fluorescent tube. And sod's law it started raining shortly after I shot this! I will not be back anytime soon to reshoot as it is 325 miles away!

We bought this cabbage for our tortoise. I liked the surface "patina" so thought that I better photograph it first before it was eaten.
I haven't done one of light-painted compositions for a while and struggled to remember how to do it!
I bought myself a new flashlight, an Olight Maurauder Mini with it's fantastic beam and this is the kind of shot I had in mind.

The Scottish pyramid, Buachaille Etive Mòr, taken before sunrise, with the little waterfalls lightpainted using a LED flashlight, a combination of 3 images. I was hoping for some more snow on the peak, but oh well.
First shot from this evening's light painting collaboration with James de Luna and Tobias Maxximus. Shot in one photographic exposure with light blades. Thanks for a great evening waving lights in the dark!
Thanks so much to a friend of mine who thought of me after having a tidy-up in his shed. Kindly provided this vintage jug (silver-plated pewter?) and some 1920's Eastman Kodak cameras.
I've paired the item with a pewter dish and some fruit/veg. About a dozen separate images blended together. Illuminated with torchlight.
The winding gear at Magpie Mine makes a great backdrop for Tim G to practice the dark art of net curtain waving to create the fake flames effect.

Light painted still life with daffodils and gardening bits - and a friendly bee shot separately last year.
I'm not normally one for posting selfies especially with my ever increasing rotundity but with a low down angle such as this I'll count this as a win!

The sky over Chemical beach at Seaham tonight.
As usual I was looking the wrong way when this all kicked off, a quick left turn & I managed to catch some of the vivid reds in the sunset sky over the top of the cliffs.
Experimenting with using custom colour temp set in camera, also the wheels & close FG were lightpainted with a strong torch to brighten them up...

It's been a while since I posted a portrait, I've been exercising rotations... a LOT lately 😉 !

I like a subject in the frame or focal point of interest where the viewer's eye is drawn. A chair is an obvious choice and here I used the RGB panel on a small tripod to light up the room on a 30 second exposure during which I quickly wafted the headtorch across the scene to subtly light up the darker areas.
