Seems a bit scary to me, but the woman doesn't appear to be too concerned that there's a bear on top of her car.

Numerous Tornadoes hit East Central Wisconsin on Tuesday August 28 2018. Some of the photos aren't the greatest due to heavy rain and wind, it was very hard getting focused photos, but you still can see the tornadoes.

..on a planet constantly raked by gigantic bolts of lightning?

I do love watching shows about the cosmos on TV.. It's fascinating to me to imagine other planets, other galaxies, how things came to be the way they are, and how everything is intertwined throughout the universe.

But you do have to take what they say with a grain of salt, even though they portray themselves as scientists and the science as fact. In that way, shows like these are a bit like any other source of news or information. One must ALWAYS keep in mind the source, and the context in which it is presented.

I've been deluged lately by Facebook with postings about how they are guarding my information, and allowing me to decide what information to share. Nice...

Unfortunately, there is an old saying about shutting the barn door after the horses are out. Ironic they would choose the week we discover two major breaches of the public trust by Facebook, and all in the pursuit of profit.

And now they have unleashed "truth squads" to comb through the news and decide which of it is "misinformation" and block it for me.. They even proudly show us who these Guardians of the Truth are, because they are "just like us".. which of course, they are not.

We shall see whether Facebook reads the comments on their posts or not. And whether they take heed, or not. Because the comments are almost universally "thanks - but no thanks - I can judge the truth for myself".

Apparently people are not big fans of Big Brother guarding us from our own stupidity. But that may not deter Facebook from forging ahead in the name of Truth, Justice, and the American Way!

I was originally asked by to take part in an exhibition curated by Nike, celebrating BMX making it to the Olympics for the first time in history, with a selection of artists who share the common bond of BMX as an early inspiration. Nike collaborated with Bob Haro on the uniforms for the riders, but also in the canvas for the show which was one of Haro's original lightning bolt number-plates.

The show opened in Beijing for the Olympic games, was part of the Beautiful Losers exhibition in Tokyo and is now in LA for the final show.

The artworks were all auctioned off in public to generate funding and awareness for The Athlete Recovery Fund. The other 30 artists include some great creators, some people that really influenced me at an early age, Bob Haro,Andy Jenkins, Mark Lewman, John Martin, Kevin Wilkins, Todd Bratrud, Yogi Proctor, Michael Leon, Dave Fox, Nick Phillip, Jeff Tremaine, Gork Barrette,Michael Lau, Rich Hansen, Joe Polevy, Ronnie Bonner, Norman Chuck, Dave Ortiz, Andy Mueller, Greg Higgins and David Slade.

Thunder in Viljandi county Estonia 14.07.21.

Well, I just discovered that I can still use textures and filters from other seasons, so I can still play and create my ghostly lighthouse shots! I'm sorry, but this thing just screams for it.

Although I haven't heard any stories about the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse being haunted, there are many told of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. It seems that most of the lighthouses do seem to attract this kind of attention. Whether it's spirits that are actually drawn to the towers, or just active imaginations believing so hard that they actually think they see or hear something remains to be proven.

A friend of my brother's from high school is now a paranormal investigator. According to people who research such things, there are indeed scientifically proven changes that occur in these places. They use EMF detectors, which measure electromagnetic fields. They spike when a spirit is supposed to be in the area. It happens, but is it really a "ghost"? Is a ghost the only kind of spirit that exists?

I have my own theories about these things. Life has taught me not to be so jaded that I dismiss everything just because I don't see it for myself. There are many things that exist that I haven't seen personally, but which I know are real. I've had odd encounters before, and while the popular trend is to assume that the spirit of a dead person is behind it, my faith causes me to look for other answers. I don't fear the truth, but I believe that the bible is true, and therefore if it says the dead don't know what's going on in the earth, then I have to believe that it's something else. There are senses other than sight, and they let us know when something is different than what we are used to. If something is there but you can't see it, is it because you can't see it, or because it doesn't exist? A blind person can't see you; does that mean you aren't real? They perceive you with other senses, and I believe people have more than just the physical senses to alert them to the presence of something those senses are unable to detect.

Some people speculate that the dead go into another dimension, one we cannot cross into unless we die, too. Do bizarre atmospheric conditions blur the division between two worlds? Do emotions so passionate that even death can't contain them cause those manifestations?

Remember the story of Lazarus in the bible? Lazarus died and was sent to heaven with Abraham. His master died, and he was sent to hell, where in his torment, he could look up and see Lazarus enjoying the afterlife. He asks for Lazarus to dip his finger in the water and cool his (the master's) tongue, because he was tormented in the flame. He is refused. The divide could not be crossed. So, he asks if he can go back and warn his brothers, who were as selfish and greedy as he was, and he is refused that, too. He's told that even if they saw him come back from the dead, it wouldn't make any difference; they still wouldn't believe!

Senses are funny things. They can keep us from seeing what we should, and they only see what they want to. Are ghosts real, or are we seeing something else, and if so, what is it? Like I said, I have a theory, but I think I'll keep it to myself for now. I like playing with Picnik's little ghosties, and lightning bolts, but I'm glad they're just on my computer screen!

In honor of Good Friday, a monsoon lightning thunderstorm with bolts of lightning striking behind a religious Christian cross in front of a church. Some of my lightning images I compose a head of time in my mind and some have taken up to three years to get. This image took 20 minutes. It was my shot for the summer. The church was very close to my house. The storm came in with a bang and the rest is history. Some things are meant to be. This is a black and white sepia version with a layer of texture.
