Lightning (ライトニング)
Lightning was born as Claire Farron, known as Éclair Farron (エクレール・ファロン) in the original Japanese language version. Claire began using her code name of "Lightning" after losing her parents to escape the vulnerabilities and insecurities of her former self and to become a different person—strong enough to care for her younger sister Serah. However, this choice only causes rising tensions between them as she grew up to have a rather cold personality that has a tendency to look down upon others including comrades at most times during the start of the adventure.
Lightning strikes in front of the Rocky Mountains. This picture was taken near Choteau Montana. You can see more of my work, or purchase prints off of my website at www.langfordphotography.com.
There were some evening lightning storms this month. I was surprised I managed to capture this strike with my cameraphone!
Lightning McQueen from Pixar's Cars films coming out for a meet and greet at Carsland in Disney California Adventure theme park.
Just for practice. You need to hear a real one them going vertical at full re-heat to experience sound and vibration.
Followed the lightning storm up bush was and snapped. Only high point to shoot from was a pedestrian overpass that was EXTREMELY lit up, so had to block the light from the right. Very difficult.
Lightning southeast of Douglas, Arizona. 28 July, 2009. This year's monsoon storms have not been so good to date. I hope they get better in August.
BAC Lightning XR728 at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire 8th July 2006. These Lightning Preservation Group open days at Brunty are superb. Superb proximity to the magnificent aircraft, often with burners in full chatt, and great photo oportunities too.
This picture was taken in Tucson, Arizona. I didn't expect the lightning strike to be so close. Previous strikes were quite far away, this one was about half a mile away. From the time I saw a lightning strike I would count one-one thousand, two one-thousand and then stop when I heard thunder. Then I would divide that value by 5 and have and have an estimate in miles of how far away the strike was. You can divide by 3 if you want kilometers.
my first lightning shot, not the greatest but I got it! 50mm 1.8 lens, Nikon D50, F13 on Bulb mode and I forgot the amount of time I kept it open. ISO at Auto since there is loads of light pollution in the area and street lamps etc.
Lightning McQueen cake made for Timothy's 3rd birthday.
Buttercake with white chocolate ganache. The red is Satin Ice fondant, first time using it!
I used the following tutorial www.how2cakes.com/3dcar.html
I've been wanting to catch some lightning but havent had the weather to do it, so I thought I would just set my camera up on my front porch and see what I could do. Cool stuff. I'll plan it out better next time!
lightning storm headed straight towards our house... and my attic window ;-) (15-08-2012)
lightning shot from my attic window with my home made lightning trigger
... as dark clouds slowly drifted in, the sky became darker and darker. at first it just looked like a heavy raincloud, but as the front came closer you suddenly could see the lightning flashes behind this first cloud.
flashes every 5 seconds, most of them inside the higher clouds, suddenly a gust of wind and the rain started, more and more lightning flashes became visible and reached out of the clouds.
Lightning over Perth taken from our balcony. The lightning looks a lot closer than it is. I suspect it was way out over the ocean but it's hard to tell.
We have just come home after a holiday on the Isle of Wight. On 4th and 5th September we had some awesome thunder storms!
This photo was taken from the sea front at Sandown. I was recording video clips with my mobile phone (a Fairphone 4) then I used PIPP to extract the individual video frames, then processed the frames that contained lightning.
“About Sprite Lightning”
Sprites are large-scale electrical discharges that occur high above thunderstorm clouds, or cumulonimbus, giving rise to a quite varied range of visual shapes flickering in the night sky. They are usually triggered by the discharges of positive lightning between an underlying thundercloud and the ground. Sprites appear as luminous reddish-orange flashes. They often occur in clusters above the troposphere at an altitude range of 50–90 km (31–56 mi).
Sprites are sometimes inaccurately called upper-atmospheric lightning. However, sprites are cold plasma phenomena that lack the hot channel temperatures of tropospheric lightning, so they are more akin to fluorescent tube discharges than to lightning discharges.
Summer time is best to capture this phenomenon and much more like galaxy’s ring and planets and I’m exploring and working on it, so wait and watch for more wonders.
Thin Lizzie 2016 live on stage at Ramblin' Man Fair in Mote Park, Maidstone. The line up for this show was Ricky Warwick - lead vocals, acoustic guitar,
Scott Gorham - guitar,
Damon Johnson - guitar
Tom Hamilton - bass guitar (Aerosmith), Scott Travis - drums, Darren Wharton - keyboards. They were joined for 4 songs by Midge Ure (Ultravox) who had toured with Lizzie on a 1979 US tour.
The set was a tribute to Phil Lynott 30 years to the day after his death from alcohol poisoning and included Jailbreak, Boys are Back in Town, Thunder & Lightning, Dancing in the Moonlight, Rosalie, Cowboy Song, Chinatown, Killer on the Loose and a great crowd singalong of Whiskey in the Jar. Lizzie were second on the bill, but blew Whitesnake off the stage, as these guys can still cut it whereas Coverdale & co certainly cannot.
