Five Lightning F.6s at Binbrook, August 1984. This was at an event to mark 25 years of RAF service by the Lightning. It was rare to see other than solo Lightning displays and as a rule these were performed using the lighter F.3 version.
A beautiful display of lightning tonight over the Space Coast of Florida as the 22% Waxing Crescent Moon tries to hide behind the clouds, seen from Melbourne.

Obviously a potentially dangerous situation so I took my smart phone inside. Shooting through windows is not recommended but being struck is not recommended even more.
Was not expecting any cloud to ground lightning ~5:30PM when this was captured.
Used iLightningCam2 app.

Lightning shot from last week - I wanted to get the dirt road included in the landscape of this shot. I thought it would add to the scene with the lightning. I really wish I had a little more detail in there but it came out quite grainy and dark. But hopefully I will get another chance this week as they are predicting more thunderstorms for Monday and Thursday. I will get better at this!
Another lightning photo from my 2007-2010 stay in Romania.
It always strikes me when lightning in a photograph is in a nice setting (here the growing cumulus cloud and the lit church). It adds so much extra to the photograph.....
November lightning! Sure looked like a monsoon storm out there this evening. This was from Picture Rocks Road as it goes over the pass tonight.
Stack of 20 raw images taken between 8:34PM-8:39PM (sunset 8:17PM). Strikes were between 20 to 25 miles. Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 lens was used. Note rare ribbon lightning near center of image.
As forecasted, strong thunderstorms formed on the end of a trailing cold at 6PM with continuous thunder and intense cloud to ground lightning. Small hail fell for 35 minutes. Break in the clouds to the west allowed for spectacular anti-crepuscular rays, lightning next to partial rainbow, mammatus, and a legendary fiery sunset. More images to follow.

Lightning over Perth, Western Australia. This was a storm that came out of the blue on 1st March 2017, and one that was a long time coming. No decent storms in Perth since 2015!
This is a stitched panorama of 5 or 6 images taken within a few minutes of each other.

It was a stormy day in UAE. I was 160KM far from dubai and my weather expert friend called me to inform there might be thunder storm tonight. Although its a weekday, my passion take me to Dubai and I saw some amazing thunder lightning.
We had a bit of weather!
I always wanted to have a go at capturing lightning. We get plenty of storms here but most are hidden behind the mountains and are heard but not seen. However, this obliging storm sat patiently out in the bay while I fumbled around in the dark! This is six 30 second shots merged using Startrails.
Taken back in August, this lightning bolt really lit up the sky! Taken 8/9/2012 with FujiFilm FinePix S1000fd

After 13 out of 15 Airliners.net rejections in the last week so I thought I would have some creative fun with this shot...
I went chasing a severe warned thunderstorm on 6/6/17. As I was trying to get in front of the storm I kept noticing a rainbow forming in my rearview mirror. So I hurried to find a spot that I could pull of the road. If you know SH-10 in Colorado between Walsenburg and La Junta, you know pull off's are few and far between. Anyhow, when I did finally find a spot I knew I didn't have long since the light was fading fast So I started shooting the rainbow and was just lucky enough that one of the frames had lightning in it.
Lightning over Rotterdam City. This storm passed over and i was lucky to have a few moments without rain. Lightning was flashing every few minutes everywhere except in front of my lens. Then all of a sudden the whole sky in front of my lens lit up, this was the result. My first lightning shot ever...and a cool one to boot!
The building on the left by the way is the tallest Building in the Netherlands, it's still under construction. I was secretly hoping the lightning would hit it...no such "luck"

In the (till now) extremely dry summer of 2018, an evening thunderstorm formed unexpectedly just south of Rotterdam.
I took my car and together with my son we drove to a nearby lake, just north of Rotterdam to capture some lightning shots in the evening light.
An English Electric (latterly BAC) Lightning F.6 on static display at Mildenhall Air Fete '86. Shot in late May 1986 on Kodak VR 100 colour negative film rated at 100 ASA using a Nikon F301 35mm SLR. I think I had by this time acquired a Sigma 24mm f/2.8 super wideangle manual focus lens to go with F301. Scanned to DNG raw file using a Plustek 8200i film scanner and processed from the DNG file using Capture One Pro 23. As with the previous Mildenhall Air Fete '86 posts, I used Topaz Labs Denoise AI 3.7 to moderate the film grain.
