Making progress! For only about 6 months experience in Illustrator, I'm pretty happy with how the pen tool's been treating me lately. Still have a LOT to learn. A LOT. But where the heck am I going with a lightbulb? weird.

If you look at the previous image I uploaded with the yarn ball, that's what this new lightbulb logo is for.

I know I know... yarn? a Lightbulb? Well in the design brief, the client explained that she wanted her visuals in the instructional DVDs to "turn on a light bulb for all knitters"... since her ways of showing/explaining special knitting patterns made a difficult step simple.

So obviously I took the lightbulb idea and ran with it. :)

The threads of the lightbulb also represent twisted yarn found in specialty yarn shops... the yarn is usuall wool, high quality and called a "skein". Those are knitting needles in the bulb, obviously.

Only thing... anyone with Ai experience, I could seriously use your help! See how the left needle goes under the middle lightbulb thread? I want the same weaving effect on the RIGHT needle, but I was that needed under the opposite thread the left needle is under. I can't figure out how to do it!

Maybe if I could email the Ai file to someone, they could look at how I set it up and tell me how to do it! I can't simply send an object to back/front since part of the object needs to be in front and the other part needs to be in back. Help! :/

I'm thinking I love this logo design stuff. It's funny though... lately, when I think of the word "logos", as in more than one logo... i think of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos, or the other way around. But come to think of it, I think rhetoric and brand identity are distantly related... pixel8design.wordpress.com/2010/10/31/ethos-pathos-logos-...

As you can see, I'm just super creative. And behind on my photos. Haha. Oops.

I am really surprised at how well this picture turned out. It was shot using my Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro, handheld, with a simple lightbulb as the only lighting. No strobes, no flash, no sun. After shooting the picture, I just did some minor edits in Lightroom, and then transformed it to B&W (still in Lightroom). As always, thanks to Isa for standing up to my endless demands and posing for me even at this late hour, after coming home from a very fun evening.

basically a lightbulb in a hole.

I really liked how the greens of the window illuminated the lightbulb in the foreground. This shot was taken with my Canon 50mm f/1.4 with the aperture wide open.

A close-up of a lightbulb.

To be absolutely honest, i'm well impressed with this photograph. Saskia had been helping out with the install of the Smoking Room, when she placed the lightbulb from the lamp inside there, onto the bar.

The grooves in the wash area gave this reflection that reminded me of some of the distortions I get when I'm mashin up a panorama.

So, no post production.

Not even a full format/DSLR

Is it wrong to adore a lightbulb?

This sculpture by Tomáš Medek was created in 2008 in memory of Thomas Alva Edison, who instaled electric lighting in the Mahen Theater in 1882. It was the first electrified theater in Europe, only three years after the invention of the lightbulb.

I've made a lamp by collecting a lot of used light bulbs and put them in a huge glass tube together with some led-lights.
