I was gonna throw my old broken lightbulb away today... glad I checked the Daily Challenge subject right before! That was its last chance to shine!

Taken for ODC - When Lightning Strikes.

What started as an attempt to dump some bleach in the growing flood in our basement ended in me playing with lighting for a while.

Not pictured: Foul smelling water.

The Light Bulb Depot, Broad Ave., Memphis, Tn

i don't usually get many bugs in my room, and less often, flies, but these last few days, I've gotten like a dozen flies in my room, and I can't figure out where they're coming from,

Natureally, I suspect that there is a dead body somewhere in the building ( ? ) !

The modern world is an electrified world. The light bulb, in particular, profoundly changed human existence by illuminating the night and making it hospitable to a wide range of human activity. The electric light, one of the everyday conveniences that most affects our lives, was invented in 1879 by Thomas Alva Edison. He was neither the first nor the only person trying to invent an incandescent light bulb.

Day 21 - 31 day challenge 2013. Been eyeing off a dead (ie extinct, departed this mortal coil etc) lightbulb on the bench wondering how to capture it. This is the first part of the process - getting a glowing live one. This is with no reflector over the top. Don't like it.

In our local Hipercor, they have this sign and collection box for the collection and recycling of CFL and fluorescent lightbulbs, superb!

Just messing around and blinding myself whilst doing it!

Following the tragic demise of a much loved lightbulb I felt I had to record the occasion. Bye bye bulb. You served us well.

Light in shop in Utrecht, Netherlands

The shape of the glass intensifies the light from this lightbulb so that it can be seen for miles.

Malmo, Sweden

When I arrived at my hostel in Malmo, I was struck by the eclectic interior design of the rooms, including this common room. Sweden is known as an innovation and sustainability powerhouse. It was very interesting to see these two topics overlap so fluidly. The hostel featured an urban garden and common area where the kitchen grew herbs, tomatoes, various fruits, and legumes. These ingredients were featured in the hostel's breakfast

The designers of the hostel, I learned, made the rooms to be area efficient. The kitchen area and common room doubled as a conference room and lobby with sliding glass windows and doors to open the space and make it larger for more people.
