Rather messy self-portrait will re-shoot one day. If you screens not great, i am holding a lightbulb not just a random ball of light!

Three lightbulbs progressing from dark to lit

This artwork is about lightbulbs used to form the skeleton of an octopus. Really interesting!

This is creative because they put the traditional Fishing net and the light bulb together and made a lantern!

Wow, it was a busy day, I had time to shoot this picture but I almost hadnt time to upload it!

Well, I put my black coat behind the lightbulb so the black comes from there, and if you look closely you can see me with a strange position trying to shoot the picture, hehe.

Day 32 of 365 project and also for MSH february 2009 on theme "Inner light"

The informative insert, communicating the means of proper disposal of old CFLs, which contain hazardous chemicals (ie. mercury). Also, you may notice that I've designed the package in a way that presents the screw-end of the bulb to the user. I've always hated having to touch the bulb in order to remove it from the packaging (being forced to handle something so delicate seems counter-intuitive), and I thought this would be a good occasion to remedy that.

From my Spring 2009 Package Design 1 course at Art Center College of Design. The brief was simple: redesign a compact florescent lightbulb package. Here's the description of my concept, taken from my final presentation:

The compact florescent light bulb (CFL) is a recent innovation that combines radically reduced electricity usage with a significantly longer bulb life span. While the bulbs themselves are appealing to the environmentally conscious, the packaging for the bulbs has been less than environmentally friendly. Until now.

Made from 100% recycled White-Line newsback and printed with soy inks, this packaging compliments the eco-friendly contents. The box includes information on proper disposal for CFLs and a postage-paid mail return sticker, enabling the consumer re-use the original packaging when returning the bulb to GE for proper disposal.

Finally, extensive research has shown that if a customer can be persuaded to take a GE product off the shelf, there is a 70% chance they will purchase it. This innovative and refreshing package design will ensure that the GE CFLs will stand out, making this a good choice for the environment, as well as GE’s bottom line.

It's an energy-saving lightbulb. I haven't gotten around to installing it yet. It also has spirals. Whoo

I've just got these coloured light bulbs from ikea to light up shots that I'm doing and I thought that they would look nice as the object of a photo! A blue one is being used to light the shot.

Day sixty-four of The 100 Day Project for 2021.

I took this photo of a blown lightbulb back in February but only felt confident giving it a shot (and knowing I had the time) last night.

I, foolishly, thought I'd made a mess of the bottom-left section of the base. So I corrected it. But, thinking back to what it initially looked like, I should have left it as it was.

I felt I drew the original base too wide. So I thinned it slightly. Though it was probably acceptable at either width.

The bulb is leaning a little to the right, but not offensively so. It doesn't feel like it would fall over.

The filament and supply wires possibly look even more like the \0/ emoji than the photograph did. Though I think my sketch makes the overall look more robotic than the original, oddly. Silly anthropomorphism!

This was quite a satisfying draw.

The original sketch was drawn with a 4H pencil. I traced over the base and shaded it with a 6B pencil. I used a 3B pencil to draw over and/or add shading to other darker elements, including the shadow on the table. The shadowed parts of the glass I went over with an HB pencil. And then, the lighter outlines and the filament were drawn over more heavily with my 4H pencil.

I got my first ever energy saving lightbulb in 1995 when I was given a free one when I had my house draught-proofed. It said on the box that it would last approximately ten years.

When it finally shone its last I was astounded to note that it had lasted almost eleven!

story time!

i replaced a headlight in my car tonight. i found this filter in the garage and it was a good place to put my ring while i was getting my hands dirty. filthy, more like. so i stuck my ring down in the filter and then put the dead lightbulb on it too, while i was putting the new one in. i decided i liked how that looked and tried to take a photo (after a lot of hand-washing!) with the ring in focus and the bulb blurry behind it... that didn't work out, but i like this version. (there are some sparkles in the shot but it's so blurred you can't tell what it is.)

i came back in after snapping some pictures and sat down - and in a few minutes i realized my hands were still naked. oops. went back to the garage... filter there, no ring. scrambled to the kitchen trash can and there was my ring, with the old lightbulb and the package the new bulb came in. at least i had just changed the trash right before i threw that stuff away! (and at least i noticed it missing before trash pickup day!)

long story short: i threw away my engagement ring tonight because of an impromptu photoshoot. ha!

Getting ready for a solstice demo.
