Found at work and decided to take it's portrait.

Setup: two softboxes peeking out of both sides of a piece of black foamcore behind to provide rim light - not flashed. A candle directly behind to provide backlight for the tube. Used a mag light to paint the front of the bulb. Set on black crushed velvet to absorb stray light.

It's that time of year again: Lent!

Last year, we participated in Tearfund's Carbon Fast - and this year, we are doing it again. We have decided to photographically document our actions for and responses to Carbon Fast 2012, where possible (some of the actions, such as joining in prayer, cannot be captured in photographs).

Here was the first action of the week - lightbulb removal!

"Remove one light bulb in your home and live without it during Lent as a reminder for what you're doing."

It's hard to ignore the empty light fitting - it looks odd and broken. It is a very good visual reminder to reflect during the Lenten period, and to be more intentional about our energy usage. Already, we have got out of the habit of flicking the switch for this light - we can easily adjust to being without it. Which makes us think that we could probably adjust just as easily to many other changes in lifestyle - in order to live more mindfully, to consider the impact of our actions on people all around the globe, and to minimise our carbon footprint.

on my right......luminosity

You can tell with this ornate lighting display. Aside from many of the bulbs being dead, you'll note the inclusion of a single energy-saving lightbulb. What more proof do you want?

Apparently they save energy (there's something else they do that's bad, but I don't remember it).

This incandescent light bulb has the ANSI code of EAD. It is 120 volt, 60 watt, and has a BA15D shape base.

All about me project, focusing on creativity.

Using A4 paper as my backdrop, and various lightbulbs,

I cropped the photo to make the photo simpler, and increased the contrast to make

to white brighter.

For 'colbet 9980' Colby asked for a lightbulb embroidery. My own design.

I will be washing out the blue marks and mailing tomorrow.

Hope you like it Colby.
