I think I'm going to need a) more lights, and b) different bulbs (full-spectrum instead of regular incandescent).

Building a lightbox following the instructions here: www.jyoseph.com/extras/archives/2006/02/diy_lightbox.php

Behind the scenes =)

My lights fired at 1/16th power into semitranslucent paper which covers the sides and top of the box. The back has a hanging sheet of bristol paper for backdrop.

Shot in my $2 lightbox. 2 GSM-D1s on the sides, and a 430ex on cam 1/2 power aimed straight up. Soon to be on eBay.

Tuesday night I made this thingy.

Total assembling time: 15 minutes. Total Cost: about 2.5 Euros plus flashes, which I already had (papers come in bunches of 10-20 leaves: I spent 12 Euros and I now have enough material to make another 4 at least).

Cost of a "professional" lightbox: 250 Euros.

If you want one for yourself get the instructions on strobist, including a version with alogen worklamps (less than 50 Eur each) in place of flashes.

Trying out my prototype lightbox setup with some more items.

This is how I shot the products - two YN 560 III triggered via RF using a modified RF-603N trigger. Cardboard box with sides cut out and replaced with tracing paper, white poster board as background and product raised on a couple of books. Lights are set at 50mm, 1/8 power, camera is set to F9 @ 1/160 sec ISO 100.

Ravelry made me do it. More in my journal.

These are 23W (100W equivalent) soft white CFLs with a 2700K color temperature.

Soft whites are easy to get; I can always swap in "cooler" colored bulbs (4000-6500K) for a more daylight effect later.
