I went to Woods Hole to try to get some star trails, so of course it got cloudy once I arrived (it cleared up nicely on the drive home though). The low clouds combined with the light pollution created a nice effect. This image is underexposed, but I was trying to capture the red part of the light without it blowing out, so mission accomplished I guess. A side effect of underexposing it was it turned the orange sky a bit more red, which goes with the lighthouse's beacon I think.
I haven't seen any pictures of this lighthouse from this angle, but I think it's its best side. It does require standing in the road just past a blind corner to get this view though. Luckily the road is nearly deserted at night.
Long exposure time light painting shot taken on the side patio of our house.
Attached a rope light to a PVC frame and twisted it to make the diamond shape.
Light traced some tulip garden lamps for additional effect.

Trying out some light spheres under the milky way and they are tougher than they seem. I first tried the light on the end of a string and spun it in circles. Turns out it's hard to change the direction of the spin once it's rotating with that method.
Then I got a 5 foot pole and attached 2 lights to the ends of that and spun that around. That's much easier to make a circle but it's hard to keep the center from moving so the ball ends up looking like this, uneven and sporadic.
I'm gonna try attaching this 5 ft pole to another pole that rests on the ground, that way i keep the center in the same place.
Any idea's or methods you all have to get the perfect ball of light are welcome!

Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated with the bikes from the movie Tron and Akira. You know, those light bikes that leave a streak of light as they go by.
Major cities freeways are much like that. Especially at night where a long exposure shows a great trail of light. I attempted to mimic a city of cars by shooting this one early morning.
A carnival of light is an event in Finland in one of the most popular amusement parks. It is usually held in October and it lasts one week.
In this particular picture you see a whirl in action during carnival of light. In the background you can see a rollercoaster with nice lighting.
Make sure to check all of the pictures from carnival of light.

I Finally found the mysterious and elusive Pixelated~Light! He came to me shifting in all kinds of different forms, until he settled into what looks like a person. I took the shot, and in a flash the pixelated lights flew back in the tunnel. Maybe I'll catch him again...
