Great plans to hit the levels and grab a few snow scene shots today, packed my pork pie picnic and headed out... Well best laid plans n'that. It was a balmy 3.5 degrees and 99% of the snow has gone. Good news for the birds though !!:@)

Actually made as a gift for a good friend who hosted me for a week in his flat.
One SB600 on each side, shot at 1/4 power, triggered by Commander unit of the D200, bounced off big white paper sheets.

Taken at Ham Wall Nature Reserve on the Somerset Levels - such a friendly bird, it was only 8-10 inches away - it seemed to know that I'd give it some food - hard to resist taking a pic. (SOOC not cropped or adjusted/sharpened in any way - except changing a Raw file into a jpg)
Gradually, the water trapped behind the revetments finds it's way back to the sea. Not all returns to the sea before the next high tide, luckily for the small fish that are usually trapped in the pools behind the revetments.

On the 26th October 2017 an unidentified Diema approaches the works exchange sidings at Gnarrenburg. This 600mm system serves the busy peat works.
The potholed carpark at the summit of the Bealach na Bà pass (around 620m altitude) in the Applecross peninsula, with Beinn Bhà n in the distance.

Union Level, VA / USA - June 20, 2019: View of the overgrowth taking over the small alley way between the abandoned houses in the ghost town in Mecklenburg. Once a busy stop through southern Virginia, the town was abandoned after the interstate changed travel routes.
It must be Del Mar race season because the Pacific Surfliner low level set it on its way to San Diego as it passes through Fullerton.

This is from the weekend before last when we had the sunny weather. Sunday morning I woke up early for the chance of a mist and once again, I went to Deerleap for the view over the Somerset Levels. Unlike last time I was there, this time there was much less mist around - which is both good and bad I suppose. But it meant that I was able to get the early sun over the misty fields. It is still pretty green out there but maybe this cooler weather will jump start autumn colours.

It was a beautiful morning today and I was able to grab a few minutes on the way to work. It's promising to be frosty and foggy again tomorrow so I'm getting up early to go out with my camera...

I apologize for my lapse in answering emails and posting new images for the last 4 weeks. I just returned from nearly 4 weeks of international traveling that included trekking in the Himalayas and some time in Thailand. I hope to have some images processed soon from the trip, but for now I have to continue posting some older work.
This is an image from a short trip I took to Death Valley a couple weeks before I left for Nepal. I spent some time here at nearly -300 below sea level, and two weeks later I was trekking at 16,000 feet under the tallest mountains in the world. I hope you enjoy the image.

Just a brief glimpse of this lovely Otter hunting and fishing on the Somerset levels.Mainly in the reeds but really enjoyed watching this Otter at such close quarters.
