Well…this weeks theme was quite a bit of a challenge. So, here it is.

Since I’m on leave this week I’m able to enjoy this beautiful weather in all it’s glory and may be late for the next theme as well ;D

Have a great week!

Here we go with this weeks theme “glasses”. As I don’t wear glasses I had to find a different approach. I’m not absolutely happy with the outcome but I think it’s time to move on and get my head around the next theme ;)

Green. Money. Greed. Envy.

I love the color green, but used a dark tone for this picture.

I'm sick and decided covering myself in dirty money was a good idea, oops.

This took 3-4 hours of editings, maybe a half an hour of shooting, and 87 layers of money lol.

Model: Me

this is absolutely not what I had in my head. I mean, it´s really not a good manipulation, I definitly failed!

I was not a fan of this week's theme lol. Couldn't think of anything really, and I didn't want to do anything too generic. But this is what I came up with, a sorta fashionista pic lol.

17/52 Tree

This is my entry #17 for the #letsgetcreative2014 project.

It was my first try on the “Brenizer Method” and I’m not completely happy about it. But I’ll definitely try it again some time. Maybe with an subject other than me ;)

love my kindle app on my nexus 5

I've always loved immersing myself in books. Everything around me shuts off and just for that moment, I'm in a completely different world.

I had quite a hard time with this theme, believe it or not. I wasn't sure myself if I could do it but I decided to just give it a go - what's the worst that could happen right? If I fail, I can try again. It turned out better than expected! I love surprising myself hahaha.

#letsgetcreative2014

With the new year on the rise I really put off picking up any new projects. I know 2014 is going to be a busy year and would be overwhelming between school, client work and my personal work. But I decided to partake in Letsgetcreative2014 anyway as a challenge to myself! It is a 52 week self portraiture project that has a theme each week and hosted by Ella & Nathalie. It’ll be different to be in front of the camera and learn how to improve on an area of photography work that I’d like to be better at. Anyone can join in!

Week 18 theme is feathers.

'A fairy learning how be a fairy'

I'm thinking of renaming this project as the " 52 back up plans " !!!

Shoot this at 2 am because this week has been hell (4 deadlines, still 2 more to go till Friday, a cold and a hardcore migrane is not a great combo).

I was really excited for this week and wanted to do a non-wing-y fairy and take a more mythological interpretation (I was planning to use my awesome detached bathtub to try a Selkie fairy), but my inmune system said NOPE.

So I remembered this fairy wings I bought 2 years ago for a photo that was never made, this Fairies book I got as a kid and a book title ' The education of a fairy'. Put that in the blender and---> YOU GOT THIS! :D

Ugh U_u bring on next week. I'm so done with this one.

I was disappointed with myself this week. Magic is such a fun and awesome theme but I was just so busy that I didn't get to plan any real concepts. Luckily I was able to snag Steph today to take pics for an hour. She was going to go ride the horse she's leasing and let me tag along and we took this pic. It was really sunny out so I wasn't really liking the pictures I took. I made due with what I had though and here's the result. I know it's more fantasy than actual magic, but I figured unicorns and elves are magical lol.

Never look back, the shadow of who you once were follows closely behind.

Dammit, my dress looks like a mesh tank. It's actually a 20s style dress, drop waist and all.

She grew from the ground and spiraled in a way no others did.

Week 9 : Patterns

“If we want to grow, the way to break a pattern of negativity is to face anything negative with love.”

Shot this for patterns week, a month ago. I came across this quote and it spoke to me.

There are no monsters 'cause I ate them.

Obviously this is not what I had in mind for this week's topic, but that idea didn't turn out well at all.

Week 10 theme is Fairies. Any Zelda fans here? I was really dreading this week, but I decided to make it part of something I really like! Please excuse the terrible Legend of Zelda cosplay. :-/

The yearn for peace, the dove has fled

Sometimes I like to think of my life in phases of colours. When I was 16-19 years old my colour phase was red. Everything I owned was red - I would wear outfits entirely in red. Fashion faux pas I know now but then again I have never been the most fashionable person.

After a brief but loved purple phase I have streamlined into my teal phase. I am sure there is a psychotherapists dream in my colour phase analogy somewhere but I dare not ask.

There is a wonderful art installation in the heart of Edinburgh right now - it is called Field of Light by Bruce Munro. It is simply fields of lights that change colour in the urban backup of St Andrews Square.

I spoke of phases of colour before and I may have mentioned that my current phase of colour is teal. Pretty much 50% of my wardrobe is teal. So, when I saw photos of these lights they made me think of my teal hat that joined on my american adventure last year.

To me, it seemed like the perfect backdrop for an otherwise plain idea.

All caught up! This turned out a lot darker than I had planned but hey, creative risks right?

Week: 2

Theme: Red

Ten days left in my 365 project. I feel very relieved and I cannot wait for it to be over! However I still have this 52 week project to complete but I don't think it would be as tasking.

Week 19 theme is bed. I broke one of my bed's legs jumping on the bed repeatedly for this shot. :(

I've noticed with this project that I have a strong tendency of harsh dark-light contraposition photos, and I'm still not sure If I like that...

This week gave me a massive headache as I have literally NOTHING pink around me. So here is my last try, something abstract, a little hipster, a little desperate, but it's all about growing and developing over this year, right?

Week 6 theme for Let's Get Creative 2014 Self portrait project is "Street".

I had a completely different concept in mind for this week but I never had a chance to do it. I was very disappointed but I figured I'd take advantage of this recent snow we are having here.

I know this photo was taken last week, however a) I was behind for so long this kinda evens it out? and b) how often do you get a location as perfect as this for a theme of patterns. Unfortunately my last day to access this space was on Saturday so I really had no choice.

Week: 9

Theme: Patterns

Week 11 : Glasses

"People often say that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where other have not dared to look including inside ourselves." - Salma Hayek.

I left my glasses in KL and just got it back a week ago via mail. Yes, I used that as an excuse to delay shooting glasses week. Well what do you know, I decided to use a magnifying glass instead - hah.

Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.

I see the beauty in nature and I wanted to express that through this theme. Perks of living in the northern portion of Borneo, haha!

This is week six under the theme “Street” for the #letsgetcreative2014 project.

Since I just got my 1st flash on Friday I thought about using it directly for this weeks shot. It turned out that I’m a total newbie in terms of “artificial” lighting, but you have to start somewhere, right? The light on my face could have been a lot softer, but my gear was limited to the flash and a little diffuser cap, I’ll consider buying a soft box or something similar for future shots. But nonetheless, I learned a lot, and that’s what these projects are made for.

Last but not least I really have to thank my wonderful girlfriend for bearing with me in the cold wind holding the flash higher and longer than she actually could, thank you very much darling!

For the next theme “Monsters” I really have to boost my creativity, wish me luck ;) Have a great week everybody!
