The more I try to resolve myself to accept a reality that does't define me anymore, the more I find myself wasting precious time and energy on negative thinking and nourishing that habit we all know oh so well of complaining about how life isn't fair for putting us in a uncomfortable situation.
Well instead I just learned how to let go... and trust in life.
This one took waaaay more time to edit than I'd expected... But I think I like the outcome :)
.

Trinity was visiting her friend Sammy; Sammy wanted to do a shoot with Trinity and they asked me. I'm glad I said yes. Trinity swore she had never done a shoot before and she didn't like photos of her. Within about 0.3 seconds of meeting her I knew it would be an excellent shoot - and it was. We picked an old fashioned car wash as the location. Neither Trinity or Sammy had ever seen one before and it was fun watching them get wet and soapy - and the car looked great when they were done. We can't wait until Trinity comes back again for another visit - wow!
Noah knows how to act when his baby sister has a fit. Let her hug the cat and don't try to persuade anything.
This is the little room I set up for there two in one of the closets of my study/dollroom. All those toys had to be displayed somehow and you don't see even the half of their stuff here.

I don't like being sat in an office all week. Let me out! Let me free!
This gorilla is big. The most surprising thing about him is that he is made out of spoons. Spoons? Yes, you heard me right.
Quite why he is made out of spoons is beyond me, but I suppose that is art. He resides at the British Ironworks a strange museum type place with all sorts of metally iron things. It really is quite unusual in the best quirky British way. But it is free to visit, somewhere the whole family can enjoy being together and even your dog can go with you.
This choker is so pretty, i really love it, the butterfly on one side is very textured, I love how the textured looks on this color, it really gives a lot of interest. The intricate design on the rest of the choker takes lots of dedication, because of all the tiny stitches, but at the end, looks lovely :-)
I am going to send it to the fashion show as well :-)
No alterations to the color.
I got home from work yesterday and there was a beautiful sky! I decided to take the garbage out and try and snap some shots before the sun went down. Summer is slowly coming back to me. :)
:-) hello
How are you today?
Although there are mistakes, I quite like this edit! I originally had this photo on portrait, but changed my mind last minute.
Also, I start uni this week, I'm really excited! :) but I'll probably get sick of it in a months time haha
It is, by far, one of my favorite photos of my beloved Ohanessian, but for such a long time I have been hesitating to share it, because I have been ashamed to admit that most of my cats aren't allowed in the yard except in a fenced area (looks like a Zoo), wich I don't like but I have to use it, especially after the encounter of Alfie with a neighbour's dog that left him a tripod fo life.
The cats yard is a full enclosed area about 60 sqm. There they have a small brick house with two rooms, cat beds, toys, tree trunks, logs and wood bridges, and a lot of cat's grass and clover, and lots of birds and butterflies around.
Two weeks ago, after posting Ohanessian's photo in the group, we've made the terrible decision to let him play outside the enclosure, unattended for a few moments and he returned home after two days (seemed the longest days ever, we've searched him on the field, in the woods, everywhere, for 36 hours continuously). No more, we don't want to find out that curiosity killed the cat (even spayed/neutered ones).
Luckily it was a happy ending :)
Happy Caturday, dear friends!
Archival photos. Happy Caturday!
"The tax collectors and the sinners were all seeking the company of Jesus to hear what he had to say, and the Pharisees and the scribes complained. ‘This man’ they said ‘welcomes sinners and eats with them.’ So he spoke this parable to them:
‘A man had two sons. The younger said to his father, “Father, let me have the share of the estate that would come to me.” So the father divided the property between them. A few days later, the younger son got together everything he had and left for a distant country where he squandered his money on a life of debauchery.
‘When he had spent it all, that country experienced a severe famine, and now he began to feel the pinch, so he hired himself out to one of the local inhabitants who put him on his farm to feed the pigs. And he would willingly have filled his belly with the husks the pigs were eating but no one offered him anything. Then he came to his senses and said, “How many of my father’s paid servants have more food than they want, and here am I dying of hunger! I will leave this place and go to my father and say: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as one of your paid servants.” So he left the place and went back to his father.
‘While he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with pity. He ran to the boy, clasped him in his arms and kissed him tenderly. Then his son said, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son.” But the father said to his servants, “Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the calf we have been fattening, and kill it; we are going to have a feast, a celebration, because this son of mine was dead and has come back to life; he was lost and is found.” And they began to celebrate.
‘Now the elder son was out in the fields, and on his way back, as he drew near the house, he could hear music and dancing. Calling one of the servants he asked what it was all about. “Your brother has come” replied the servant “and your father has killed the calf we had fattened because he has got him back safe and sound.” He was angry then and refused to go in, and his father came out to plead with him; but he answered his father, “Look, all these years I have slaved for you and never once disobeyed your orders, yet you never offered me so much as a kid for me to celebrate with my friends. But, for this son of yours, when he comes back after swallowing up your property – he and his women – you kill the calf we had been fattening.”
‘The father said, “My son, you are with me always and all I have is yours. But it was only right we should celebrate and rejoice, because your brother here was dead and has come to life; he was lost and is found.”’"

"I have a dream ...that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal"...
I have a dream ...that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood....
This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning; My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring....
And if America is to be a great nation this must become true....From every mountainside, let freedom ring..." - Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968)

Oh brother, I can't, I can't get through
I've been trying hard to reach you 'cause I don' know what to do
Oh brother, I can't believe it's true
I'm so scared about the future, and I wanna talk to you
Oh, I wanna talk to you
You can take a picture of something you see
In the future where will I be?
You can climb a ladder up to the sun
Or a write a song nobody has sung
Or do something that's never been done
Are you lost or incomplete?
Do you feel like a puzzle, you can't find your missing piece?
Tell me, how do you feel?
"Well, I feel like they're talking in a language I don't speak
And they're talking it to me"
So you take a picture of something you see
In the future where will I be?
You can climb a ladder up to the sun
Or write a song nobody has sung
Or do something that's never been done
Or do something that's never been done
So you don't know where you're going and you wanna talk
And you feel like you're going where you've been before
You tell anyone who'll listen, but you feel ignored
Nothing's really making any sense at all, let's talk
Let's talk, let's talk, let's talk
The new statue of Nello and Patrashe In front of the cathedral is loved by many tourists. So I say... let them pose and shoot!

I had planned this image before I even stepped on the plane. It is a little composite.
The first day we got on top of the mountain these were the conditions, I asked my friend to stop and wait for a minute and grabbed my camera. In post production I enhanced the shot with some extra snowflakes flying around and I added a little more background to it. I edited another shot in the background and blurred that to match the 2.8 aperture I used at the moment of shooting the portrait.
This image and more from my trip to Austria are featured in my blog: www.martijnvandernat.nl/winter-wonderland/
This is Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong on a Friday night. Not this Friday but many fridays ago.
The bokeh Chinese guy was doing all sort of dancing moves on the street totally enjoying himself under the limelight. Many passers by stopped and watched his moves, and this man sitting at a bar table by the street looked like he was enjoying the dance too!
Have a nice weekend my friend!
