The lentil is an edible pulse. It is a bushy annual plant of the legume family, grown for its lens-shaped seeds. It is about 40 centimetres tall and the seeds grow in pods, usually with two seeds in each.

I always have leftover sausage when I make pizza and I get tired of just adding it to spaghetti sauce. This week my solution was a sausage and lentil soup, with carrots, celery, and potato.

I loves me some cold lentil salad. It's crunchy, oily (in a good way) and leaves your breath smelling like onions.

Cook the lentils as you normally would, keeping them just this side of done. Chill them by running cold water over them. Dice tomato and onion and mix them all together. Salt, pepper. Drizzle with oil and red wine vinegar.

Slow-cooker tomatoes, lentils and beans, and home made bread.

Not sure what, if anything, is in focus here, but this was my favorite entree of the entire cruise.

From my favorite Indian food place downtown, Komala Curry House. These probably have a name, but I don't know it. Tasty, crunchy, fried, orange...what's not to like? :D

I decided to try these because they reminded me of my friend Sunil, who used to bring delicious Indian snacks to the late-night folding sessions at the Origami USA conventions - I particularly liked the chiwda. These aren't as spicy as some of the ones he brought, but they're still yummy.
