red lentils and a green peppercorn
For #MacroMondays and this week's theme #Misfit.
Happy Macro Monday!
Thanks for all your faves and comments everyone!
I really appreciate them!
Just tried a new recipe recently and when I was just about to bite in it I thought about the challenge for Friday on Looking close on Friday ! Is it good ? Yes it was.
Je viens d'essayer une nouvelle recette, Quand j'étais sur le point de mordre dedans, j'ai pensé au défi du vendredi : Looking close on Friday. i! Est-ce que c'etait bon ? Oui et pas mal facile a faire aussi .

Continuing with the full frame series of my groceries, I am sure this could go on for some time. I feel like the lentils pop more than the walnuts did, I had better directional lighting today. Practicing this concept daily will help me improve in composition, make my subject selection easier since I am stressed about taking too much time, and create a series of photos for stock phototgraphy as well.
Looking close... on Friday!
Seeds
The lentil is an edible legume. It is an annual plant known for its lens-shaped seeds. It is about 40 cm tall, and the seeds grow in pods, usually with two seeds in each.
with cumin and chipotle broth, carrots, celery, onions and cilantro. feta cheese not shown. [not the prettiest dish but very delicious!]
In ABCs and 123s: L is for lentils .
Another dinner that I never got around to posting until now. Onion, carrot, and celery were cooked with the lentils and then tossed with some sausage.
The pictures over at 101 Cookbooks are so awesome that it makes me cook things I would never ever cook on my own, like lentils. Lentils!
I changed the recipe a bit--I had to use green lentils, because I couldn't find black, and I added cumin, which I add to everything, garlic, red pepper flakes, and a little bit of worcestershire. Oh, and I used spinach instead of a heartier green, added directly to the bowl instead of being cooked with the soup. And I'm using local goat cheese instead of saffron yogurt and toast instead of croutons.
I have to admit that I had never actually come across the word "knowlling" before seeing it as the challenge for this weeks MacroMondays. Nor, as much as I do love lentils, had I ever looked at them as closely before.
good to think and do new things. ...i think

Ramones - I Don't Want To Grow Up
A couple weeks ago one of the neighbours had a street party. It was potluck style and turned out to be quite a blast.
I made these lentil stuffed puffs. The filling is lentils, some shredded coconut, cranberries and some onions + spices (of course). The puff is biscuit dough treated with some egg to get the golden color. This was the first time I baked something savory with bread dough (well besided pizza) - these turned out quite good.
Personally I'm happy with the result and folks liked it.

Lentil Sloppy Joes
4 Servings
4 WWPP per serving
2 tsp. olive oil
2 cups lentils, rinsed and drained
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, minced
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 ketchup
1 tbsp. maple syrup
2 tbsp. Dijon mustard,
1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1 tsp. oregano, dried
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. sea salt (or regular salt will do)
Instructions
Add oil to skillet on medium high to warm and then throw in onions and garlic.
Add peas once onions have softened. Peas can be subbed for any frozen veggies you have.
Combine ketchup, mustard, maple syrup, vinegar, and spices. Stir to incorporate. If it isn’t to your liking add a bit of what is missing…more maple for sweet, more mustard and vinegar for tang or more ketchup for slop.
Once your seasoning is squared away add the lentils to simmer with sauce. Cover and turn temperature to medium low. When finished they will be that distinct brown that doesn’t look great but you know tastes so delicious you can’t wait to devour.
delicious. recipe here. have it on a bed of brown rice, or a mixture of white and brown if you're not fond of it. lots of veggies in this meal! no animal products used.
