Made tonight from a recipe found by googling lentil and coconut milk I think.
southamericanfood.about.com/od/beansgrainspotatoes/r/lent...
Original recipe called for:
* 1 medium onion, chopped
* 3 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
* 1 cup lentils
* 2 cups of rice
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 2 cans of coconut milk
* 1 1/2 cups water
I varied it a little. I used a whole pound of lentils that I had started cooking while doing the other prep, rice I'd cooked in the rice cooker, 1 can of coconut milk instead of 2, and 3 tsps of salt instead of 2.
Serves 8
3 cups green lentils
12 cups water
1 Vegetable Bouillon
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 large onion, diced
3 large carrots, diced
4 celery ribs, diced
3 Bay leaves
2–4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (optional)
sea salt, to taste
1. Rinse lentils thoroughly and place in large stockpot with water.
2. Bring to a boil and skim the foam. Reduce heat, add Vegetable Bouillon and Bay leaves and simmer for 1 hour.
3. In a large frying pan, heat the canola oil and sauté the diced onion. When the onions are soft, add the diced carrots and diced celery and continue cooking until the carrots and the celery are slightly soft.
4. Add the sautéed vegetables to the cooking lentils for the last 20 minutes of cooking. Mix in the balsamic vinegar to taste. Use more water as needed to thin soup. Season with salt.
These bags reminded me of pillows and made me want to curl up and take a nap in the sun. This would be a problem for two resons:
1. Who takes a nap at the market?
2. Two cats were having a noisy face-off under the bean bench. It was amusing but would have disturbed my napping.

LUSH item - Gentle Lentil
Another DC'd item, brought back for a limited time. This stuff has my favorite smell - sandalwood. I swear it smells just like marshmallows. It's a solid shampoo, and a little bit goes a loooong way. It makes my hair so soft and so so shiny! I love it.
From metalsmithing class: Using copper etched in a previous class, a large lentil focal bead was created from two circles which were cut and domed, then riveted together with a brass tube. Bail is integral.
