This is the old cabin I spotted on Google Maps and hiked down to. Cool, but I was a tad disappointed in its condition. Not one I could use as a safe camping spot like so many in the Death Valley area.
Crooked Creek, White Mountains, Inyo National Forest.

Hotel Savage-Shefford, 871 and 883 Rue Shefford: Joseph P. Savage owned this two-storey wood hotel in 1842. His wife, Laura Lewis, widowed in 1870, rented it to John Briggs for six years and then sold it to William Harris in 1880. Four years later, the Irishman John Harris became the owner. In 1889, he moved the hotel to this site in order to free the neighbouring lot to build Shefford House. Harris’s hotel was seized, and a travelling salesman from Sherbrooke, Joseph Dubois, bought it in 1926. From 1947 until 1951, his son Donat Dubois was a prominent hotelkeeper in the region. The hotel has been demolished in 2019.
The first hotel and the tree on the adjacent lot were among the earliest features of the village. At the beginning of the 19th century, Townships settlers constructed these commercial buildings according to a master plan close to the Georgian style, which the Loyalists were fond. The moderate slope of the roof, the symmetrical openings and the alignment of the building’s longest side parallel with the street are among this style’s characteristics. In the 1880s, the Second Empire style was adopted by the French and English-speaking inhabitants. The Shefford Hotel had a slate tower with a flat peak and a roof with a drop overhang facing Shefford Street. Formerly, the main section of the building was surrounded by porches with “lean-to” roofs.

Personal space and boundaries vary from culture to culture. In the Philippines, families and relatives share their boundaries without hesitation or worry. Here, two men who are horse handlers and relatives share a bench made from a fallen tree.
One from a couple of weeks back near Baslow on a solo fog mission.
This and another group of trees really caught my eye. So full of character and twisted by the varied atmospheric conditions. I love these old Sessile Oaks draped in their lush green finery.
I went back yesterday but there was no fog to be found so I took myself off to Darley Dale where the dog was but those will wait for another day.

A little one leans on the bunny's paw to get his photo taken. While I was there we also saw kids jumping on the bunnies - the bunny staff was not pleased with that and quickly brought it to the attention of the inattentive parent.

I loved this installation and it made me so happy that I had recovered well enough from my knee surgery to make the trip to see these and also carry my camera. Today April 30 is the last day the bunnies are on display.
Not sure what these are, a Scabiosa of some sort, perhaps? Yvonne and/or Ginny, my ID gurus, any ideas? :)
