Foxes in the climate where I live, look very thin and lean in their summer coats. We have very extreme cold winters and hot summers. This same fox looks twice this size with his full winter coat.

Shelters constructed from downed branches in the forest, Santa Fe, NM

South of Cancun, Mexico

This wind-bitten tree, a semi dwarf, an exile,

leans its trunk

against the fence's barbs, its scars etched

from weathering.

Nearby fields lie barren.

What secret impulse rose into this wayward

flowering? Limbs droop, arthritic,

each

lacquered, blood-red fruit a gemstone

in waning light.

Half the tree seems blighted. Where

the trunk splits

leeward and overhangs the milkweeds, leaves

curl and brown, berries puckered to black kisses.

This final act is playing out far afield,

unnoticed

by whoever owns

the land. The tree, untended, needs amputation.

Or would such severing

quicken

its demise? A sparrow flutters off, in no mood

for rumination. Who knows

if under peeling bark some force still slumbers?

And so this tree

buries deep its life lines

and holds up its bitter end, its cancering

for all to see:

sky, endless blue, fading day, clouds in flight.

And so we.

Schooner America 2.0 - Key West Harbor

Key West, Florida - Florida Keys - 3/23/22

SUNSET - Sunset Sail the Harbor - Spring '22

*[left-click for a closer-look - magnificent, majestic sails]

*[Strong Winds - Full-Sails - American Sail - America 2.0]

History: Designed and built by Scarano Boat Inc. in Albany, N.Y., the America 2.0 had big shoes to fill. Its 1995 predecessor, the 139-foot America (now berthed in Santa Barbara) won the hearts and minds of many islanders on and off the docks. That ship replicated the original America, a 101-foot sailing vessel that won an 1851 race against 15 yachts of the Royal Yacht Squadron in what would become known forever as the "America's Cup" in honor of that ship. The 1851 original America ended up a blockade-runner for the Confederacy and after the Yankees seized her, became a blockade-buster for the federals. She remained government property until falling victim to a shed collapse in 1945, and with the shed was scrapped and burned. A 170 year history with two replicas built.

America 2.0 (105 feet) replaced the 1995 replica schooner America (139 feet). The '95 replica is now berthed in Santa Barbara, California

The America 2.0, the Adirondack III, the Western Union, the Appledore and many other tall ships are credited with helping

to keep Key West's maritime traditions alive for years to come

... and I'll lean right back on you.

Great Horned Owl love

Went to Hamburg this weekend to visit my little brother. A few shots will follow...

ODC-Lean

These two got into quite a battle over the peanuts this morning. When the one on the platform turned around the other leaned left and got out of the way. Then, a Robin showed up and chased the both of them away.

I was really aiming for this to be like you are leaning back, and looking at the huge sky.

Lean to and relax. It's a beautiful day...

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain

We all have sorrow

But if we are wise

We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride

If I have things you need to borrow

For no one can fill those of your needs

That you won't let show

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you'll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother, when you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem that you'll understand

We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear

That you can't carry

I'm right up the road

I'll share your load

If you just call me (call me)

If you need a friend (call me) call me uh huh (call me) if you need a friend (call me)

If you ever need a friend (call me)

Call me (call me) call me (call me) call me

(Call me) call me (call me) if you need a friend

(Call me) call me (call me) call me (call me) call me (call me) call me (call me)

A quick visit to Talacre whilst visiting family this week in Manchester. It's somewhere i'd been looking at capturing for some time but not had the chance. An easy walk to the beach from the car I had about 15 mins of light before the end of the day. I took a variety of shots from different angles but settled on this composition for a long exposure. 180 sec with some nice cloud movement and smoothing out the ripples in the water leading up to the lighthouse.

I'm sorry guys, but my computer has been running really slow recently, so I will have to catch up on comments a little at a time throughout this week.

Lean, on me, Ill be there, whenever you need

someone, to share, in every prayer,

in every dream, you've left somewhere,

till tomorrow, will be just like it was when we were young,

cause to-nite I'm gonna take you where

I've never taken you before

Lean on me, I'm everywhere, wherever you look,

I'll be, forever yours, The northern lights,

The Southern cross, I'll give to you till tomorrow,

will be just like it was when we were young,

cause to-nite I'm gonna take you were I've

never taken you , before

If your alone you'll know where you can find me,

you no there's no escape when you are on your own,

and if your worried and you can see the world slip through your fingers,

I'll reach out for you in my heart,

there's no more dancing in the dark,

youre not alone , tomorrow,

will be just like it was when we were young,

cause to-nite I'm gonna take you were

I've never taken you before,

will be just like it was when we were young,

to-nite I'm gonna take you where I've never taken you before,

will be just like it was when we were young.

One of the many scattered copse of trees that you walk through enroute to the top of Great Mell Fell. I rarely shoot in the middle of the day, even less often with the pocket Sony. But on this occasion I had to make an exception
