This is the Adventure rocks / Steampunk Expedition side of my part of the LW2014 steampunk layout. Mind you, it's still Work In Progress. There's a lot to be done on the beach, the plants, and of course inhabitants and the Expedition itself with its vehicles.

These are the two possible layout ideas I'm mulling over for Brickworld this year (if I can go... gotta get those instructions ready for sale!).

These "Layouts" aren't actually layouts, but rather static displays to show off my Texas State Railroad MOCs - the engines, the passenger cars, the depot (station) and engine shed. Simply titled "Palestine, Texas", I am considering entering it as a single train MOC.

Top: Palestine layout using custom TexLUG tables.

PROs -

* Looks better

* More accurate to the real Palestine Depot

* Wye!

* allows viewing from all sides

* In theory, the TexLUG tables would be more level (in theory)

CONS -

* Larger, may not be given that much floor space

* Requires TexLUG tables, preventing me from bringing the Cathedral and maybe the Trestle Bridge

* Longer setup

* Will have to slightly alter the Palestine Depot to allow the track to come so close (not much, hopefully).

Bottom: Palestine layout using the tables provided by the venue Hotel.

PROs:

* Smaller, may be easier to get the amount of space

* Simpler to set up

* Uses hotel tables, which means I could bring the Cathedral and the Trestle Bridge

CONs:

* Not even close to being accurate

* Trains clustered together, harder to get individual detail

* Meant to be viewed from only one side.

* In theory, the hotel tables would be less level/more lumpy (in theory)

Making a hybrid layout, using the hotel tables and creating the top layout, is possible, but it'll have to be squished by two baseplates on the vertical table (7 baseplates vs. 9 baseplates). Plus the whole point is to let me bring more MOCs, but would the Brickworld team give me 5 tables?? (3 for the layout, 1 for the cathedral, 1 for the bridge)

Using different materials, pink metal foil, cellophane, silver paper...

Photo mounted on ripped paper - it might be a nice contrast to use aquarell paper or another thicker paper...

Spilsby is a rural market town in a predominantly agricultural area of Lincolnshire. It lies on the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and north of the Fens. The railway station stood on a 4 mile long branch line between Spilsby and Firsby Junction where it connected to the main line between Cleethorpes and London.

The railway was opened in 1868 and from 1890 was operated by the Great Northern Railway. Passenger services were suspended in 1939, at the start of World War II, leaving only a freight service which continued until 1958 when the line was closed.
