These are the two layout ideas we're currently weighing for our upcoming show at the Galveston Railroad museum in a few weeks. They both have strengths and weaknesses.
Thus far we haven't made a decision.

Bob working on laying out an issue of the Shell Retailer during the 1950s when he worked and lived in NYC.
With track laid and wired, I have added the backscene boards for this peculiar layout. Roughly three quarters of the surface will be scenic, with the remaining quarter used for return loops and a storage / depot area.
The part of the layout nearest the camera will effectively have two scenes 'back to back'. The nearest 'hole' to the camera allows two tracks through the backscene and will be disguised by a rail overbridge - the railway line of course having negligible width.....! At last come uppance for all those railway layouts with impossibly narrow streets squeezed into the background!
The further 'holes' provide for the return loops - each approx 3.5" radius, together with a single track entrance to the depot , and at the very far end another rail overbridge.
All this is possibly a new way of doing things - I wonder if it will work?
Meanwhile, the next task will be to build and wire a control panel - there are something like thirty sections requiring switches and also some arrangements to allow controllers to be switched between areas. The panel will be sited with controllers above the loops and depot storage.
The setting will be South London in the 1950s - a place with double deck London Trams...... and a fair number of rail over bridges!
Graças ao cauê e ao Joaaby eu FINALMENTE consegui terminar de codificar! Tive muitos desafios,UFA.Eu gostei até,oque acharam?

A layout far too big for what I think I have room for. But wouldn't it be fun. This represents what I would love to do if I had the track, room, and parts.
Most likely I will collapse it to be 2 or 3 baseplates thinner and at least 1, probably 2, baseplate less deep.
My vision is to have a small town feel to my layout. The train station is actually going to be home to a heritage railway (Sava Railways), so I can explain away my steam engines, which will be the focus of the town's commerce (tourism). Of course there will be many of my trees, as much foliage as I can muster. I don't expect too much water, but I may incorporate a small stream somewhere.
Today I spun on my spindle because I had to work, and the spindle is portable. Spun to 18 wpi singles.
Olá!
Fiz esse lay da Cher Lloyd rapidinho, acho que em umas 2 horas.
Ta bemmmm simples.
Quem quiser, é só mandar um Flickr Mail ou enviar um e-mail para:

needs a little tweaking, but this is the general layout I think the final quilt will have.

This is the Adventure rocks / Steampunk Expedition side of my part of the LW2014 steampunk layout. Mind you, it's still Work In Progress. There's a lot to be done on the beach, the plants, and of course inhabitants and the Expedition itself with its vehicles.

These are the two possible layout ideas I'm mulling over for Brickworld this year (if I can go... gotta get those instructions ready for sale!).
These "Layouts" aren't actually layouts, but rather static displays to show off my Texas State Railroad MOCs - the engines, the passenger cars, the depot (station) and engine shed. Simply titled "Palestine, Texas", I am considering entering it as a single train MOC.
Top: Palestine layout using custom TexLUG tables.
PROs -
* Looks better
* More accurate to the real Palestine Depot
* Wye!
* allows viewing from all sides
* In theory, the TexLUG tables would be more level (in theory)
CONS -
* Larger, may not be given that much floor space
* Requires TexLUG tables, preventing me from bringing the Cathedral and maybe the Trestle Bridge
* Longer setup
* Will have to slightly alter the Palestine Depot to allow the track to come so close (not much, hopefully).
Bottom: Palestine layout using the tables provided by the venue Hotel.
PROs:
* Smaller, may be easier to get the amount of space
* Simpler to set up
* Uses hotel tables, which means I could bring the Cathedral and the Trestle Bridge
CONs:
* Not even close to being accurate
* Trains clustered together, harder to get individual detail
* Meant to be viewed from only one side.
* In theory, the hotel tables would be less level/more lumpy (in theory)
Making a hybrid layout, using the hotel tables and creating the top layout, is possible, but it'll have to be squished by two baseplates on the vertical table (7 baseplates vs. 9 baseplates). Plus the whole point is to let me bring more MOCs, but would the Brickworld team give me 5 tables?? (3 for the layout, 1 for the cathedral, 1 for the bridge)
