This picture of my grandmother and her classic layered bob was taken outside of her home in West Virginia.
A layered bob is when your hair is put into layers and shortened in the back. One method to doing this is to have it shorten enough in the back to where you can just leave it down and straight. Another method is to have your hair in layers, but to blow dry it up to shorten it and to make it fluffy. The women who wore this method of hairstyle the best was Norma Jeane Mortenson, better known as Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was an actress, singer, model, and just about every man’s dream girl. Marilyn began her career in an airplane parts factory when a photographer came in and encouraged her to do a photo shot for the Blue Book Modeling Agency after he took some shots of her at the factory. The agency told her they were looking for people with lighter hair, so she bleached her hair blonde and got the job. After awhile of modeling, she began acting. However, her birth name Norma Jean was not a good enough stage name for 20th Century executive Ben Lyon, so he changed her name to the now well know Marilyn Monroe. Monroe’s first movie role was as a telephone operator in The Shocking Miss Pilgrim in 1947, her dumb blonde comedic act made it easy to get the role. Since then she landed seven more featured films, until she enrolled into UCLA in 1951, where she studied literature and art. Since then she was featured in the first issue of Playboy Magazine, were she helped improve her popularity status among many people, most of them men. Another incident that that increased her name exposure among the American people was the allegations of her affair with, the president at the time, John F. Kennedy. After that she focused more on her movies and musicals. Later at thirty-six years old, Marilyn Monroe was pronounced dead at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. It is still questionable about her death because of the poison found in her blood, but the main theory was that she poisoned herself because she was dramatically depressed over John F. Kennedy’s death. In all, Monroe lived a glamorous life, staring in about thirty movies, making her very well known in America. Even though it is her movies that made her known in America, no one can forget her famous photo of her in a white dress with her blonde layered bob.

Another half-mono, half-colour jobby, built up in layers of purple, green and mono, hence the title.
I just posted this shot but I thought I might include the layers I used to assemble the image. Layers 4 and 5 are the masks I assembled to to control the sky (and foothills) and the water; Layer1 is the base exposure I laid down; Layer 2 is the 1 1/2 stop boost layer used to create the transparent Alpha-channel Layer 3; of most interest are layers 6 and seven which are all the combined Layers {Shift-Ctrl-Copy) split down the shore line in oder to correct the perspectives both in the sky and in the reflection on the water. Two perspective corrections; both match. I bet that auto perspective thingy won't do that. Both perspectives match now.
On our walk at Sawhill, we encountered another pond on the south of the path and there was a view of the Flatirons across the pond and Valmont Butte. That day, I had to make a run down to Costco and it seemed like a good time to take a stab at the Sawhill Ponds Open Space Area had to offer. I have never done this before. The Walden Ponds Open Space Area is just down the road. Would all these areas be as popular without changing the names from gravel pits to ponds. An aggregate outfit is nearby. It seemed to me that this spot holds good promise regardless as a gravel pit eco-wetlands. This day holds promise. The eco seems to have reinvaded. The main ponds by the parking have apparently been stocked with trout and allow fishing. I saw several people fishing with spinning rigs while all the fish I saw were rising and jumping after flies. One fellow was casting a nymph for the (probably grass) carp. I'd probably try fly fishing, myself.
I bet the original Union Pacific short line tracks (I captured earlier at White Rocks) in and out of Boulder passed along the valley near here.. Did the UP branch furnish stock cars here at one time? I suppose the flood ravaged the low areas along Boulder Creek (pronounced CRICK around here) but I don't see damage here. I made a quick sky mask so I could retain the sky from blowing out while holding the shade. I like framed with foreground and peeking out into the bright scenes.
It's clear that Boulder, Longmont and other communities in Boulder County like to get out to their parks and open space... pedestrians, fisherfolks, birders and dog walkers alike.

Had an interesting morning yesterday, as my car broke down on the way to meet a couple of friends of mine at Curbar for sunup.
Eventually got going (thanks Green Flag), but missed the best of it. Still got a couple I was happy with, this one being a long lens view over Leash Fen with the making lovely shadows throught the trees.
BTW, it's a bird to the left of centre in the sky, not dust!

April-September the streets are closed to traffic for the Thursday Night Market from 6-9 pm. On Broadway Street, outside Cotton Party Kristy worked under the open sky providing henna artistry for the Chico community. The market is perfect for simple and casual natural henna. You may choose from henna patterns books in the style of India henna, Moroccan henna, Geometric henna, Persian Gulf henna or request a Trust Your Artist (TYA)design. When you choose TYA, your artist will ask if you'd like something flowing and naturalistic, or something structured with lots of detail or something geometric. The pattern books can only hold so much, henna is infinite in design options!

I decided to have some fun and make a totally ridiculous birthday cake for myself. We're going to a baseball game tomorrow, so I made it a day early and we all enjoyed it tonight.
It's chocolate cake, layered with toasted marshmallow filling and malted chocolate frosting. As the photo shows, I totally suck at making layer cakes. They're uneven, one of them broke into pieces, and the finished product is lopsided. But it was hilarious, and the taste was just incredible, so it was worth it!
By the way, to see what this cake should've looked like, go here: www.browneyedbaker.com/2013/03/25/six-layer-chocolate-cak...
