Bencini Koroll 24, with Walmart 35mm film, "drawn on" with a laser pointer before loading. Re-scanned to get the sprockets in and curves pushed to the max in Photoshop.
Trying to draw with a laser pointer really shows up how shaky my hand is :)
Straight out of the camera.
I always thought it was silly that there could only be two Sith. A master, and an apprentice. So when the apprentice got really good at being bad it could kill the master and start the cycle anew. So aside from being really evil they are also really dumb. Fortunately the writers of Star Wars Legacy apparently feel the same way and that comic is crawling with Sith, many of which have red skin and black tattoos a la Darth Maul. And if they are females, hardly any clothes. Comics is a visual medium after all and who am i to complain? Thus, Darth Talon. Basically Aayla Secura's evil twin. Born like 300 years apart. So they don't really have the same birthday.
For your own laser self-portrait, all you need is a long exposure, new curtains that block out the light (honestly they were like tracing paper), handheld laser pointer (preferably from "Journal of Informetrics" courteousy of Vicki Wetherell) & some time on your hands.
Fun with laser pointers. The students at school HATE the fact that teachers get lasers and we take them away from them. Oops. Guess they aren't quite mature enough yet to use them. Today I used the laser on the keyboard of one of my students, she acted just like a cat, meowed and everything.
Feeling better and better. I was actually able to go from work to something else without a nap today. Had a birthday dinner for a good friend tonight. Again, great conversation and great company. I wouldn't want to trade my night for anything. My head even feels almost normal.....:)

30-second exposure... self portrait of me pointing a green laser at the constellation Perseus during the 2010 Perseid Meteor Shower.
I'm trying to wring a few extra meteors out of Perseus ...it didn't work!
This was taken at the Bayfront Park in Anna Maria Florida, overlooking Tampa Bay. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge can be seen on the horizon.
I shot some 300 images during this meteor shower, and did not snag a single decent meteor! Oh well. Next time! (A 19-second time lapse movie of all of the images can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Us_1WsTdk&hd=1 )

My brother went to Toronto for the weekend, so I went to his apartment to feed and fuss his cat, Reginald, a couple of times (which is the main reason why I was able to take photos around the nearby Ottawa Train Station two days in a row).
My brother likes letting Reginald chase the red dot produced by a laser pointer, so I thought I'd try doing that as well. The cat keeps on chasing it, but he never can seem to catch it..
Unfortunately, due to the lighting in my brother's apartment, I had to use the flash on my camera, so the red laser pointer dot is a little hard to see.

This is a laser beam shone directly into the lens. No, I wasn't looking through the viewfinder at the time!
Light from a laser pointer shining through my hands and reflecting back on my face.
Actually quite difficult to pull this off. Had to set the camera up on tripod, figure the basic position for hands and face, turn lights off, remotely trigger shutter, trace laser pointer behind hand with other hand, then close shutter and try again and again until everything was centered and as clean looking as can be. After a couple attempts it gets very difficult to hold yourself in place!

I thought it would be interesting to spellbind the scattered surrounding around the perfect pure white in the center.
Chrysoperla carnea in flight.
Found this evening just before dark. The insect was attracted by my green laserbeam that i use normal to position my frame to the insects. In this case there was no background so this is regrettably black. I was tested for mosquitos this evening but this guys are so small that i have to recalibrate the leaser beams to detect 0.5mm max. Mosquitos are playing into my green laserbeams but d'nt like the red laserpointer beams. I will test this again into the next days if they react on green leds also.

Tigger waiting for someone to pick up the laser pointer and play with her. Later on our house guest did and Tigger was highly appreciative.
My born-deaf bulldog loves to chase flashlight beams at night, so I picked up a laser pointer at the dollar store one day. It's insane, it's HANDS DOWN her favorite activity, she'll chase this intently for HOURS. It's been great for keeping her well-exercised and alert.
I've tested this on my other dog and on a bunch of my friend's dogs.
They either zero in and love it immediately or ignore it altogether.
One interesting commonality I've discovered is that dogs whose owners report that they "watch" TV, who pay attention cognitively to the TV-such as reacting to a dog who is onscreen- every single one of THOSE dogs actively engaged in chasing the laser light.
The reign of terror of the Heffalumps and Woozles came to a decisive end after Pooh made a purchase from Skynet. "How could this possibly go wrong?' he asked himself.
A few people on Facebook's GBS group were asking how the laser pointer worked. This is the very rough version; I've made a much better version and donated two of them to the hospital, since.
He can't get enough of this thing. I can't believe he never tires of never actually catching the thing.
This laser pointer was turned from a length of aluminium tube for the body and two lengths of solid rod for the end cap and diode holder at the front. 4 AA batteries, wired to give 3v, powers the green 75mw diode. Everything's held in place with grub screws. This took a couple of evenings work to turn up. Ended up fairly heavy and very solid :)
