Shot for an accessories brochure for BMW on a 10x8 camera decades before Photoshop became ubiquitous. It is made up of three elements: the roller skate and wheels were shot in one studio on one transparency. The car was then shot on another transparency with exactly the same camera moves to give it the right perspective. These two shots, and an Australian sunset shot were combined by a team of genius retouchers working for several days. Of course, photography was affected by the computer age, but Photoshop completely annihilated the retouching industry worlwide. I remember the retouching invoice for this one shot was £1200, or several month's wages.
I took this a long time ago ... before they put the ugly chain link fence around it for safety reasons.
Crossing over to the other side of the Star Stage, I came across trucks parked in the street. People were sitting on the tops of the trucks. They had perfect views. I thought about getting up on top of one but there was not enough space to take a picture safely, most people were dangling their legs off the sides. As I started to leave the area, I spotted a two-man band playing loudly along the pathway. There was a large crowd around them and the air was filled with energy. By the time I set up the camera, the band was on break and the crowd had disappeared.
This place is always crowded during sunrise. I manage to find my own little spot by walking a little further to the right.

finally we get the production version of Smartflex3445. Full new mechanics, easy switch between film and instax. The experience can be totally different from the old graflex. An Ultimate large format SLR!
With a deadline looming, the power to half our office building went out. The estimated time to fix the power was several days to a week so a small part of our team moved into a conference room with power and set up shop.
We were working so closely and it got so hot in the room from all the monitors and computers that everyone described it as a sweatshop.
I may have been the only person in the room having fun. I liked to think of it as CENTCOM.
I should've staged this to get a good shot. Unfortunately, I told everyone to act natural, to keep working and was relying on luck and hoping for a good photo.
I wanted to try again the next weekend but never got to. Power was restored and we made our deadline.

This was taken a long time ago. Devil's Slide is notorious for landslides that block Highway 1. Talks of building a tunnel through this area has been discussed but I don't know if they still plan to.
Photo taken with my old Crown Graphic with 90mm Schneider lens on Kodak TMAX 100 film. Aperture was probably around f/22 @ 1/15th.
