Black and white shot of a lampost within the York Castle Gardens. . Felt the angle and reflections worked well.
The lamp is located outside of Mary Gates Hall which originally has a very warm orange color. Warm orange color usually gives people feelings of safety and comfort. I intentionally set the camera to 4000K. As a result, the lamp gives out a bright white color and the wall has a blueish color. Instead of a warm and comfortable feeling, the picture illustrates a cold and ruthless sensuousness.
Since it was a cloudy day and my aperture, ISO is low. The original picture was a bit dark. So I used LightRoom to increase the exposure in order to brighten the picture. I decrease both the contract and highlight to blend the color between sharp light, dark lamp and wall together. I also increase the shadow and vibrance to strengthen the object.
