There's A Moon Inside My Body

The moon shines in my body, but my blind eyes cannot see it:

The moon is within me, and so is the sun.

The unstruck drum of Eternity is sounded within me; but my deaf ears cannot hear it.

So long as man clamours for the I and the Mine, his works are as naught:

When all love of the I and the Mine is dead, then the work of the Lord is done.

For work has no other aim than the getting of knowledge:

When that comes, then work is put away.

This is one of my favourite POCO LPs (beside many others:-))) - Best songs : And Settlin' Down - Ride The Country - and for shure : A Good Feelin' To Know!!!

I don't know if anyone ever reads my descriptions, but I write them anyway, so there!!

Was out today (August 20th 2021) on a forced vacation day, from 9:30AM til' almost 4PM. 80F today but it felt like 100F. This is a very active line and I probably flicked 20 freights today. 750+ flicks. By the time I get rid of a few duplicates, and bad ones, I'm guessing it'll be about 700 +/-. 700 to straighten, fix any color issues, upload, and also ID the writers. It's lots of time and as you can imagine, it's a lot of work, but so far it's been fun. I'm trying to not rush myself to post before I'm ready. I already have the flicks, and they're timeless. So getting them posted ASAP!!!!!! is not really my concern. Duh..

Had an interesting interaction with a guy while out there. Guy with backpack had walked back and forth across the tracks a few times. The lat time I saw him he was on the other side of a set, about 100 yards away. Next thing you know he's coming closer..... Closer..... And I'm like WTF? I'm way out here minding my own business. He walks within' like 10 ft. of me and I say "How ya' doin'?" he says something, and then says "Trains?" and I say "Yep." and he says "Oh.." and walks away. I think he was feelin' me out, as there's a small population of people who's homes are shall I say, mobile. I've talked to a few of them, and have never had a bad interaction, I just don't like people walkin' up on me when I'm trying to get away from the rest of the world out by the tracks. I go out there to get away from people, not to interact.

======================

I follow some other amazing photographers on flickr, but for this I will talk about the ones who flick the freights. There are a few that I really love. Some it's because of the great locations they shoot at, and others it's the amazing little details they manage to capture. For me (right now) I don't have the luxury of walking the lines and seeing pieces static. 99.999% of my flicks the freight is rolling by at 10-50 mph and sometimes I don't really even know what I have until I get home, dump the memory cards and go through the photos. Because of this, most of my flicks are just straight on shots and documenting what I saw and where. I saw this freight here, on this date, here's what was on it, and i captured it. Buffed or scraped next week, well I have it on "film" for future generations (sounds corny, I know). There are times when a freight will stop in-front of me, and I'll walk up and get some shots of monikers, but it's rare.

Obviously in any area there are sidings where freights park for extended periods, I know a few spots, but as I get older, and older, do I really want to leave my car parked on the side of the road and walk 2 miles to capture some little details I might normally miss? I'd love to, but it's just not practical for me at this time, any many other people do it better than I could. Retirement is getting closer every day, maybe then, when my weekdays are free. :-)

======================

During the Covid lockdown, I was working from home, and I was getting out benching like 2 & 3 times a month. Back at work, I'm lucky to have the energy to get out once a month. Every time I do manage to get out, I come home and my batteries feel re-charged. It's been so f-ing hot here in SoCal though, I can't wait for cooler weather and some clouds in the sky.

As always, thanks to the writers!

I know that everyone and their mother who has ever posted pictures on flickr has probably done one of water droplets on a CD. I like the colors, and I like inverting things, so I apologize for jumping on the band wagon. The colors are just preeeettty.

Now, I am exploring how we all are human and have the same rights. I chose the photo of an English girl and crossed her face out because no matter your identity you have human rights! The rights around the outside is a secondary source image from the Calais jungle reminding the migrants THEY ARE PEOPLE AND NOT ANIMALS.

what this is? Seen at Alstede Farms in Chester, NJ. Very interesting spiral leaves.

My sister-in-law got me some skull leggings (to wear under my scrubs at work) and Jack Skellington slippers! Yep, she knows what I like! :)

We know that the family of three pictured on the front of this real photographic postcard visited the Lonnergan photographic studio on Woodsley Road, Leeds [Yorkshire], for their group portrait, because the studio’s details have been stamped in the bottom right-hand corner. Although aspects of the little girl and her mother’s clothes and jewellery are notable, there is nothing to identify either the family or the soldier–father’s unit on either the front or back of the photograph.

Taken in Milton Ontario on June 20, 2015 at the 3rd Annual Fords in the Park.

I don't know why I like this but it's still kind of creepy even today. I'm a huge fan of the B-horror and, to a lesser degree, sci-fi. I used to love 60s and 70s moster movies and the later they were on the better. Chiller Theater varied from season to season 8:00PM, 12:00AM, and 2:00AM.

We have had such a bustling few weeks It’s hard to even know where to start with September’s Monthly recap. We enjoyed the company and wonderful delights of John Sheard on piano and the vocal talents of Ruth Moody & Lis Soderberg. You may know John from his work as a music director or producer with such talents as Stuart Mclean or The Guess Who. Lis Soderberg is a recurring favourite here at Number 9, amazing vocalist as well as songwriter.Last but never least, Ruth Moody is a gifted singer/songwriter, whose vocals can also be found on the latest Mark Knofler album Privateering!

The studio filled with the Jazz grooves of Julie Michels and David Restivo joined by bassist/producer extraordinaire George Koller. The vocal stylings of Julie Michels are one of great critical praise on the Canadian jazz scene. She was honoured last year in performing at Jack Laytons state funeral with the MCC Choir. David Restivo is equally as respected as a Canadian jazz artist with a 3-time win of the National Jazz Awards’ ‘Pianist of the Year’. Both wonderful jazz musicians and amazing warm-hearted people.

San Murata and Mark Kieswetter joined us in the studio to record their upcoming album release along with the vocal wonders of Whitney Ross-Barris. San Murata is a multitalented musician, painter and illustrator. He is a former Art Director with City TV and astounding violinist. Mark Kieswetter is a wonderfully gifted pianist among his other musical talents as well as one of Number 9′s dearest friends.

We also welcomed new artwork to the walls of Number 9 this month from the talent Torontonian artist Tomori Nagamoto. From our new espresso machine to a busy month of video editing in the production room to the bustling of sweet sounds from the studio, September turned out to be a great end to the summer and even better beginning of the great fall season to come.

9/14/08 - I spent the day in Washington D.C. with my parents and a friend who's very close to me. We went to visit my sister, her friend, and her boyfriend. I had an amazing day with amazing people. I saw the most wonderful sunset I've ever seen on the way home and rested my head. I'm more than content. Last night was an insane night and I was scared to tears. It was worth it. Today was the cherry on top of a sweet weekend.

"You know my heart, (so tell me honestly did you ever really want this?) knows all these parts. ('Cause my jealous heart can't take that.)" - Mayday Parade.

I know it's leaning, it annoys me too. It's actually leaning because it's old and decayed, on a slope, was neglected more than half a century, and is built on a plate that rotates so that the front always faces the sun. I tried so many angles and none of them work because the building itself is like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Moments From the Year

I know, I know, I seem to be having a touch of Pano-Rage but it will pass soon.

A bit of rambling on about making panos

On the left is Steve Sullivan, trying to set me straight on a few issues. I guess he didn't want me piling up his helicopter. Mastering one of these after being an airplane pilot was pretty hard. They are tricky beyond description.

I know this is silly. But I wish I could feel this pretty without makeup.

I wanted to show off my jewelry. And for the hell of it I am going to explain all my rings.

The one on my middle right hand (so on the left when your looking at the photo) is from my grandma. It is so beautiful. The one on my right ring finger is from my sister, she got it in Washington for me, she is so sweet. The one on my middle left finger is from this awesome friend of mine Lori. And the one on my left ring finger I made in jewelry last year (no meaning behind it being on that finger other then the fact that I like rings).
