I have always enjoyed the smell of coffee brewing. My Mom drank coffee, my grandmother and my wife also drinks coffee. I have tried it many times and just can not acquire a taste for coffee.

When I bake thumbprint cookies, I always think back to the early days of my marriage. The cookie spatula and bottom cooling rack came from our first cookie sheet set. The cookie sheets eventually warped a few years ago. The glass mixing bowls are hand-me-downs from Eric's grandmother. The dough scoop (with a bigger one not being used) & folding cooling racks were 'earned' with Betty Crocker points from many Gold Medal Flour bags.
I wanted to make something sweet that didn't involve too many ingredients, including eggs. We were on a tight budget then. The other nice thing, my dad and my family really like these. I made these for the potluck celebrating my parents 45th wedding anniversary.
Soo I've put my sp threesixtyfiive on hiatus. I think the world has seen enough of this ole' mug o' mine, at least for the time being. Instead I'll be exploring a central theme for twenty eight days. I thought we'd start with something simple soo October is all about the Still Lives, enjoi..
I've been waiting to shoot these crazy little things they look like some sorta underwater sea creatures. I layed them out on the kitchen counter and started snapping away. I thought the shot was missing something so i fired a speedlite through a strainer too get that big beautiful blue bokeh ball. The speedlite is actually behind the camera that is it just reflecting off the window in the background.

It's Friday. I don't have to cook.
I stopped at Sonic's on the way home and bought a chili dog and a strawberry slush. Yummmm and totally unhealthy! So sue me!
My Mom is back in the hospital. After staying up at the hospital very late last night, getting up and going to work, returning to the hospital after work and shopping at my Wally World after that - I'm ready to relax.
Enjoy your Friday night everybody!

I have a good friend of many years who has a talent for finding pleasure in small, everyday things. I still remember the day that we were standing on a street corner and she looked down at a piece of trash in the gutter and said "Oh look at that beautiful blue color!" I have always wished I had that ability to be delighted with small surprises.
Recently I have noticed that a prism that Jack placed on the window sill behind my shelves of blue glass casts a rainbow that moves around the kitchen when the sun is low in the west. Here you see it on the edge of the counter. When I told Jack, who was sitting at the kitchen table, that I was taking his picture he made a goofy face. I love the rainbow on my new granite counter edge... the goofy expression, not so much.
I went to the store because I needed a part that costs .88. My wife sent a text from work asking if I could pick up a couple of grocery items while I was there. I said I would, and since I was in the grocery section I couldn't resist ice cream on Independence Day. So my .88 part run turned into a run that cost closer to $20.

White Kitchen Interior with Island, Sink, Cabinets, and Hardwood Floors in New Luxury Home with Lights On
A friend challenged me on Facebook with the seven day black and white photo challenge. For seven days I am to post one picture a day of my life in black and white with no faces, no explanations. I thought I would post the photos here on Flickr as well. Photo was taken at the apartment my wife and I rent.
