A quick trip back to the hotel after parking the van. I'm in Amsterdam, so I need to keep right on this cycle route.

Utterly creepy, 28 Days Later style sign, that Jen and I found while walking near Wadhurst. The fact that is was so old and faded looking made it even worse.
Eventually turned out if was deers, rather than rage-infected zombies

every castle has a Keep .
The present castle is dominated by the Keep which although the most imposing part of the castle is in fact the least historic. In the tradition of the Norman Motte and Bailey castles the keep is situated on a mound and was first erected in the fourteenth century during the episcopacy of Bishop Thomas Hatfield. Over the centuries the keep fell into a ruinous state but was rebuilt in the 1840s as a sleeping quarters for students when the castle became Durham's University College.

one thing for sure, I will never be a professional photographer. It's too much stress and high expectations. I prefer shots like this.
At UCSF, one can frequently find empty boxes in the hallways in the afternoon before the nightly cleaning crews arrive, and since we have many scientists you sometimes find some unusual packaging discarded. My most useful find has been Nalgene bottle shipping boxes whose dividered boxes are very helpful for transporting wine and champagne glasses when changing addresses. The funnest find, however, I think is this one.
Words that would come in handy. Taken shortly before a backwoods creep appeared out of nowhere and scared me off the property.
