Back of the journal cover. I'm so chuffed with how this turned out, though I would cut it a bit more generously next time!

Goals for Journal class:

1. spending time (even virtually) with my grandmother on a common activity.

2. Embrace visual creativity: at least one new visual idea per day. Practice!

3. Use journal as a tool/document for the development of my visual style. The goal is not to create finished pieces, but to get an idea of what my work looks like.

Our quilt guild just had a class with Jeannette De Nicolis Meyer where she taught art quilt construction techniques for 2 days. I loved learning to fold these origami squares.

A journal for my holiday to Paxos, one of the smaller of the Greek Islands, being just 3 x 7 miles!

On holiday Rose wrote a daily journal which she hid away to be found at some future date by another visitor to 'our' cottage...

Took my journal camping with me last July. used my page as a napkin for my first ever camp chili! Cooked all day in a giant dutch oven over a fire pit. Did I mention that I love camp food?!

Window To My World Journal Class

Extract from Dorothy Wordsworth's journal, that inspired her brother William's poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" :-

"When we were in the woods beyond Gowbarrow park we saw a few daffodils close to the water side, we fancied that the lake had floated the seed ashore & that the little colony had so sprung up -- But as we went along there were more and yet more, and at last under the boughs of the trees, we saw that there was a long belt of them along the shore, about the breadth of a country turnpike road. I never saw daffodils so beautiful they grew among the mossy stones about & about them, some rested their heads upon these stones as on a pillow for weariness & the rest tossed and reeled and danced & seemed as if they verily laughed with the wind that blew upon them over the Lake, they looked so gay ever dancing ever changing."

A trader's journal at Fort Ross, CA - a former Russian outpost.

Doesn't hold a candle to Pam Garrison's work but it's a great exercise!

This is on the facing page to the birds at the feeder. Bituminous loves eye contact more than any other cat I've had, and he'll gently pat my chest to get me to look at him, then lay his head in the crook of my elbow and gaze at me. He's 16 1/2 and either has Lymphoma or Inflammatory Bowl Disease (treatment is the same so we didn't biopsy), so I cherish all my time with him.
