PURA syndrome is a recently discovered, rare genetic condition. There are approximately 50 known cases worldwide. The PURA gene is on chromosome 5. It has a number of different roles, but is known to be particularly important in brain development. This is why problems with the PURA gene are primarily associated with a neuro-developmental disorder. The PURA gene encodes a highly conserved protein known as Pur-alpha, with regulatory roles in DNA replication, gene transcription, RNA transport, and mRNA translation.

Since being diagnosed with Behcets and Uveitis I have faced many health challenges along the way. I have also had to redefine myself as an artist and a photographer to overcome my newfound challenges these diseases bring to me each day. I find my art and photography to be a great tool to work my way through this journey and hope to inspire others to still pursue their passions despite obstacles.

This past summer her feet and legs hurt her so bad, it made her unable to walk.
She tried her hardest to enjoy Our trips and summer activities...
we have just recently earned the diagnosis for crmo. CHRONIC RECURRENT MULTIFOCAL OSTEOMYELITIS. An auto inflammatory disease that attacks in the bones. Causing painful lesions that swell. She is the toughest person i know, but i also take to consideration all the other strong, brave children and adults that are out there. I pray for us all :-)

Everyone is unique. People with a giant congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN) are born visibly so. This was hand-painted by affected kids at the Nevus Outreach 2010 conference in Texas and is now proudly owned and displayed by a committed pediatric dermatologist. Worldwide CMN patient groups have built Naevus Global (naevusglobal.org), for standardized, vetted information about CMN and a means by which to promote research into this & other rare dermatological conditions. What affects some, affects many others; what is visible brings light to that which is not. Together, we can do so much!
