My name is Gina and I am 27 years old.
I so proud to say that I am down 5 dress sizes and lost over 40lbs!!! After putting on a tremendous amount of weight on my small 5'3 frame, I finally got to the point where I had to do something about it.
Like so many people out there I vowed on December 31, 2007 that my New Year’s Resolution for 2008 would be to join a gym, get healthier, and lose weight.
So I joined Lucille Roberts on January 2, 2008 and started my weight loss journey.
I signed up for the gold card and loved the fact that I could go to a Lucille Robert's location near my home (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn) and by my job (Wall Street, NYC). No room for excuses!!!
I enjoyed taking all the different classes (especially the cardio kickboxing), and I looked forward to the pumped-up high energetic instructors!! I was also using the treadmill and elliptical machines to burn mega calories whenever I didn't make the classes.
Lucille Roberts in combination with a healthy diet has allowed me to totally change my lifestyle. I am not on a so-called "diet". I have adapted a new way of eating, thinking and living and I love it!
I enjoy working out and feel so much healthier and confident now that I have lost all this weight.
To anyone one else out there who is down about their weight, or maybe isn't seeing results as quickly as they'd like, just know that "slow and steady always wins the race!"

You’re Invited—Step On Out
Spread the word and make plans to join the People’s Climate March in New York City this Sunday, Sept. 21 (use our Facebook and Twitter icons below). Organized in part by author and activist Bill McKibben—with support from more than 1,000 groups—the march is timed to get the attention of the thousands of United Nations delegates coming to New York for the annual meeting.
More than 1,000 groups are coordinating the march—environmental justice groups, faith groups, labor groups—which means there’s no one policy ask. Instead, it’s designed to serve as a loud and pointed reminder to our leaders, gathering that week at the United Nations to discuss global warming, that the next great movement of the planet’s citizens centers on our survival and their pathetic inaction.

After months of admiring everyone else's lovely Treeson pictures and
hunting them down.. I managed to find the Treeson and Other Stories
series 1 figurines....sooo cute!
And I got a Ren too (well, now I have two of them!)
I'm still looking for any other Treesons.. but they're so hard to find
(at a reasonable price, I mean). I guess I discovered these cute
little fellows a bit too late.. but better late than never! :)

The British join in at the back of the patrol behind the ANA and ANP.
Fighting alongside the Afghan National Army and Police in Helmand
The patrol started off just like any other from Patrol Base Shaheed (2.5 Km North East of Showal) on Thursday 4 March 2010. The Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police were in the lead. As usual they had with them a handful of soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh there to offer support if needed.
Patrolling in the green zone, the soldiers were out to dominate the ground taken during Operation Moshtarak just over two weeks ago.
The tranquility was shattered an hour into the patrol after the Afghan Security Forces left a compound where they had been talking to village elders.
Insurgents opened up on the patrol from a few hundred meters away using neighboring compounds for cover. The patrol took cover in an irrigation ditch observing the insurgent movements firing when they identified targets.
Using the ANA and ANP to suppress the insurgents the British troops moved location to join up with the ANA and ANP commanders. While the Afghans kept the insurgents pinned down the British patrol commander Lieutenant Adam Libby called in surveillance aircraft to monitor the insurgent’s movements.
The key to this firefight was to use just the right amount of force to suppress the insurgents and minimise damage to the area.
With aircraft up in the sky monitoring the situation the patrol headed back to base knowing that their every move was being tracked.

Thousands of university, college and school students – joined by workers – are marching in London and Manchester against Tory cuts to education, fee rises and attacks on jobs and services.
The revolution in Tunisia and uprising in Egypt have clearly inspired the marches. Marchers have chanted, “Egypt, Egypt everywhere.”

Aisha, an FE student from Camden in north London said, “I’ve been on all the demonstrations, but some of my friends are here who haven’t been out on the protests before.
“I like the slogan ‘This is only the beginning’, because it’s going to be a long fight against this government.”
Theo, a school student from south east London, took part in the Day X walkouts last year. He said, “Lots of people who want to go to university won’t be able to and people will definitely be affected by the cuts to EMA [Education Maintenance Allowance]. The government is making the wrong people pay – the bankers are getting hundreds of thousands in bonuses.”
For workers, the student protests have been an inspiration.
A GMB rep joining the protest in London said, “I’m here to show solidarity with the students. I’ve got a daughter who has just gone through university and there is no way she would have been able to afford £9,000 a year fees.
“I’m also here to say that I don’t believe in these cuts. We’ve got to stick together workers and students. I think that the TUC demo on the 26 March can give people confidence to fight.”
UCU lecturer Vicky Margree works at the University of Brighton. She said, “We face 100 percent cut in arts and humanities funding which will hit universities hard. And the new fees will make university unaffordable for the majority of people.”
Kelly Rogers, a Unison organiser, said, “Unless we show solidarity with younger people we may as well give up. Students have led the way and enthused workers, showing us how to fight.”
Solidarity with the Egyptian uprising
In London the mood was electric as up to a thousand students joined the many hundreds of people already protesting in solidarity with the Egyptian people outside the embassy off Park Lane.
Chants of “Solidarity, solidarity,” “London and Cairo unite and fight” and “Hey ho Mubarak has to go” are ringing through the air.
One man on the original protest said, “I can’t believe that all these young people have come to support us. This makes us feel even stronger. I can’t wait to send the pictures of all you British people who have come to support us to people back home.”
Before reaching the embassy, the protest stopped outside the Tory HQ at Millbank – a focus of student anger and protests last year – as students chanted, “Tory scum, here we come.”
