Congratulations to the both of you! :)
Jim is one of my engineering bloc mates during freshman year in UP. Niña belongs to another bloc (ECE). It was only during senior year that the two became close, from being research labmates under PEL (Power Electronics Laboratory) to being lovers for life.
Both have worked in Japanese companies, before going abroad to Singapore for a year. Now, they're back to the Philippines to "formally" start as a new family.
Best Wishes!
West Coast Railways Class 33/2 33207 "Jim Martin" stands at Southall ready to drag a train of empty coaching stock into the yard. This locomotive was originally built for the narrow loading gauge of the Hastings line.
Jim was our dinner guest at hunting camp a week ago. We stopped by his house in the late afternoon to extend a dinner invitation for that evening. We set the time at about 6 but told him to come over when ever he liked. He arrived about 5:15 on his 4 wheeler . He walked in took off his hat and coat and introduced himself to me, Ray , our host has known him for several years.
The first thing I noticed was Jim was armed. He carried a .22 cal. target pistol, he said there were reports of coyotes in the area. I always like to have a feel for the disposition of my dinner companions especially when they are "packin". In "this neck of the woods" it is quite common for people and firearms to be close to one another.
Jim is 73 yr. old , married once, no more, two daughters and two granddaughters, both infants , he said it took him a long time to settle down. He is an army veteran, in the early50's, spent most of his tour in Fort Knox as a diesel mechanic,he rebuilt tanks, then in his work life he did the same thing , a diesel mechanic . He lives alone, cuts and splits his own winter supply of fire wood. He doesn't like to venture to far from home. The day following our meeting he was scheduled to "go to town" to do some banking and get his "provisions" he wanted to be back home asap. Home , or the woods is his comfort zone, not town
He won't use credit cards or sign up for cable TV because "the bastards" want to know to much about ya.
When Jim was ready to leave we sent much our camps "provisions" with him , we were breaking up camp the next day so we had to eat it, take it home or throw it away so Jim got much of what we brought but didn't use. It seems this is quite common in Jim's life, local people are always dropping things off at Jim's house.
All in all Jim was a very congenial character, interesting to talk to, grossly independent . A content old soul.

This Sunday temperatures dropped 10 degrees and it was raining all day long. I used the ambiance to finish some books.
While I was reading “Politics” I’ve already decided to read after that “Jules and Jim”, especially because ”Politics” refers to it. I already had “Jules and Jim” twice in my hands; the first time at a friend’s of mine (she said: “yes, interesting, but outdated. A good read in your twenties.” I’ve put it back in her shelf, thinking she intended that it was boring. Honestly; now I would really like to know what she meant!), the second time when I browsed the French section of my library, but it didn’t inspire me.
So after putting down Politics (and the triple harmony-intermezzo) I thought I could give it try.
As the cover reads: “Many have seen the movie, few have read the book” – I’ve never seen the movie.
I was really impressed and captured by the lightness of every sentence. The verbal structure reminded me of Bauhaus Architecture: there are no ornaments, nothing superficial, bare and simple words – but that doesn’t mean that it is crude and simple, far away from it. It rings and sings in poetry, never being cheesy. It’s like one of these conversations in which you know but cannot say and put everything in innocuous words that say one thing but can mean many. To say, this book leaves a lot to imagination.
For example, one day a couple has a big fight. “The following day Kathe didn’t leave her room. The next day the sky was blue again.”
I’d say; skip “Politics” and go directly to “Jules and Jim”.
I made this picture against the setting sun yesterday and when I opened it today I saw this strange wording on it: XIMI – I have no idea where it is coming from, nor what it means, it’s not on the cover. Any suggestions?

the photo is identified as Jim and Kalleen Sanders, first wife. (identified on the back of the photo by my grandmother, Eunice (Strelesky) Lightcap)
Not exactly sure how they are related, but assume Jim Sanders is a cousin of my Dad's. I've never met anyone from the Sanders line of the family.
My uncles Jack and Joe are in the picture, but don't recognize anyone else.

This was a good time. Back when they were both young, smart, goodlookin and had everything in the world, like pearls in their hands..
They were identical twins and shared a unique bond.
